Commas

Unless it's the, dock of the bay, Otis Reading. I know, showing my age!

And J, no gym-slip, damn, and there was me thinking...:p
 
I'd rather be a dock, and bay the moon – or, considering the lack of gym slip, perchance 'moon the bay' – than roamin' suchway.

Perhaps, given the way this thread is going, it's just as well that we didn't start with the colon....
 
Regarding the comma in the list, the one before the 'and'. Mr Dale, my English teacher at the age of 8, explained it as follows:

In a list of just two items (apples and oranges) there is no comma before the 'and' so, unsurprisingly, there is no comma before the 'and' in a list of more than two items (grapes, apples and oranges).
