Any Anime Recommendations?

I was watching it and the thought went through my mind that someone had to sit down and actually draw all of this stuff out. That in and of itself was a little scary.

I always suggest Big O and I don't know if it is considered anime by modern standards but Star Blazers.

Bringing the thread up again, but, I'm on the lookout for more decent titles myself, both feature-length films and series. And not too much mainstream, either, like Naruto, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, no youngster pop anime stuff like that.

Romance is fine, but no yaoi/yuri. Fantasy action, sci fi action is okay.

I've gone through Busou Renkin, Death Note, Eureka 7, Sora No Otoshimono, Claymore, FMA, pretty much all of Studio Ghibli, The Girl Who Leaped Through Time, The Place Promised In Our Early Days (which was just plain WEIRD) and others I mentioned in the past obviously.

On my current list to watch, I've put down Shakugan No Shana, Persona (possibility), Appleseed, Metropolis.

Did you look up any of the anime I've suggested over this thread, Karn? I think I've just about mentioned every anime that I've seen and think is worth watching.

I seem to be the resident up-to-speed anime fan on the forums.

You're not going to get much fantasy genre at the moment. It's a bit out of fashion. Your best bets on titles that aren't showing their age would be, Guilty Crown, Gosick, Another and Magi.

I'd also suggest Scrapped Princess and Vision of Escaflowne. They are old but brilliant fantasy stories.

For romance, I'd suggest The Monster Sitting Next To Me, Kids on the Slope, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou Dormitory and Chuunibyou demo koi ga Shitai!

For sci-fi, I'd recommend Stein;Gate.

Hehe. Seems so.

Sword Art Online is something I will definitely check out, I think. It was on my perhaps possibility list anyway.

I suppose anything out of the list of this site:

Which are your best recommendations out of a quick skim? I am getting rather desperate for something decent; I'm not a Japanese speaker and it's hit and miss. Though, that's no excuse for watching Ah! My Goddess...

Sorry, see my edited post above, Karn. Those are my quick recommendations.

Sword Art Online was okay, but it ended up wasting all the potential it had and became overrated. Was still an enjoyable watch though and it is fantasy.

Think I'll go with those.

It's rather a shame that there really isn't much fantasy. It does seem to be basic, techno sci fi if anything, doesn't it? *sigh* Seems to be the case all across visual media. Video games and good, solid reading material are about the only avenue for my genre...

I saw you watched Eureka 7. Did you also watch the new season? Eureka Seven AO? That was okay. Not as good as the original though, but still an enjoyable watch.

School romance/drama is the in vogue genre at the moment.

EDIT: Oh, for Sci-fi, definitely watch Psycho-Pass. It's turning out to be really good. Speaking of which, I've got the next episode to watch...

I only got up to about episode 13 with Eureka 7, I intend to finish it, but I do like to split things apart.

And out of my recent week or so of getting back into anime, my favorite come across was Busou Renkin. Have you seen Place Promised In Our Early Days, WP? As I said...that one was just weird.

The name is familiar, but I don't remember it. I prefer to watch series over movies, but I think I have watched it, just don't remember it.

I haven't watched Busou Renkin though.

Yeah, you'd probably remember it if you saw it.

Hmm...trying to decide which to check out first, really...and if you haven't checked out Busou Renkin, I do recommend it, I got to it after finishing FMA.

*Shakes head* I can't believe how they decided to end Full Metal Alchemist. I loved the whole damn series up to that episode. Should've kept Edward and Winry together...

That's the case for many, many anime. Endings just seem to be things that often get messed up and end strangely. Worst case of this being Neon Genesis Evangelion, yet still it is a major name in the anime industry. The original Beserk is another good example. Anime was great up until that last episode that was just like, "Uh... what just happened?"

I don't know... I've never actually felt the need to watch that anime. I've read of it, but the write up just put me off.
