what to expect with a song of fire and ice

My bad, and I agree Imp.

I haven't talked about the series in awhile, and my better sense left for a bit.

But the seven armed warg? Can I discuss that ;)

What to expect from asoiaf:

An entrance ticket to the mots marvelous Waiting Game in the world.
Where waiting actually manages to almost put a smile on your face, even if at times it's a bitter one.

Or as the Koreans would say Hwaiting! = Fighting! (Spirit).

Btw;
If you liked C'nedra, then you'll love Arya and you'll love to hate Sansa and Cersei.
Isn't C'nedra more like a combination Sansa, then Arya.
I've always figure her as a stuck-up little princess. Even after her stay in Ulgo's (?) Cave.

Yeah, she is a stuck up little monster, but she has balls when they are needed, and it cracks me up how she manages to get under Garion's skin so easily :) I think my appeal to the character more lies in the fact that she's a minute little redhead just like me ;) Plus, I do enjoy making people squirm... hee hee
I'm powering through the last couple of books in the current series I'm reading, so I can get to Game of Thrones... can't wait! Should be starting on Saturday or Sunday. I'll come back and read some of the other threads once I've read it.

DON'T!!! All of us posting here have read up to the end of A Feast For Crows, plus the Hedge Knight stories, so don't come back until you have read the four books. There are just too many spoilers in these threads.

I will say that if someone is curious enough to Google a bald reference in here (which are meaningless unless you read the book, or google the reference), then the spoiling result is their own damn fault, not the fault of any of the vague referencers in this thread, which seem aimed at getting X'Nedra to read the book. They (and I) may have gone towards the line, but no where near it, let alone over it.

Well said, Kiwi.

C'nedra has spirit... that's all.

From your original post on this thread

Do not expect any happy endings (see the chapters Bran II in A Game of Thrones, or The Red Wedding in A Clash of Kings),

IMO, someone who has never read the books knows that something very unhappy happens to bran in Bran 2 of AGOT. If they happen to remember reading what you said, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out that bran is screwed, even when you think he isn't (when Jaime 'saves' him)

As i'm reading ACOK Icould easily remember something about "the red Wedding" being mentioned and KNOW that something terrible will happen when Cat, Robb, etc. get there. GRRM certainly drops enough clues along the way it is.

IMO, the Red Wedding is the event that must not be named when you're talking to ASOIAF noobies. i don't want to belabor the point, and it would be uncharacteristic of this board to have any kind of ongoing argument, so I'll make that the last thing i say on this subject

Oooh! OK I won't read any threads... I will be a good girl.
That's really the safest course of action, although there have been people who haven't readt all the books and have participated in this forum while finishing. Most threads will be marked as having spoilers, but you nevenr know.

The shockers/twists/surprises in the series are, perhaps, what sets it apart from most toher fi8ction, fantasy or otherswise. You won't want to miss anything by finding something out too soon :) Keep in mind that you can always start a post saying exactly where uyou are (if you have comments, questions, etc.) and EVERYONE will respect your point along the path of the story and not ruin anything for you. We have the finest people posting here of any group I've ever seen anywhere, going back to the days when i was using a 14.4 baud rate modem.

When I said I love the Imp... I meant the poster.

I've read The Belgariad, The Mallorean, The Elenium, and The Tamuli. Several times.

They take up a huge proportion of one of my bookshelves. Love them.

(Sparhawk's horse, FTW)

You're just stepping into a completely different world, but obviously one that has enchanted people. It is great writing, and great fantasy. It is a jump from Eddings though.

Durnik was the one that scored the prize though :)
