Anime cliches!

The nosebleed to signify arousal is a standard comedic shorthand for said in Japan.

My pet peeve is that it's ALWAYS Sakura time at some point - usually as emphasis for poignancy or the rather nice city that we're about to see the darker side of, or to watch it get ruined.

The purple haired girl is always passionate and emphatic, but that may be emphatically laconic. Again, it's a standard theme. Likewise the younger sister/friend with the dry wit.

There are lots of recurring themes that are a fascinating insight into a culture that only looks like ours.

Hah, well I am embarrassed! I came here from the 'Today's Posts' link to read all about the Animal Cliches of science fiction...and of course it was 'Anime Cliches'! :) Interesting (and spot on) cliches pointed out so far; I know this has been mentioned but I LOVE the crazy hair that almost every character wears! Oh, if I were 17 again, and owned a bottle (or two!) of hair gel, I would SO have been there!! :)

 Sorry for reviving such an old thread!

Schools in Japan usually have rooftops on which students go to eat their bento (boxed lunches). I suppose this is because of the scarcity of land in Japan. :D

The main character always sits by the window.
The main character 95% of the time is submissive and dull.
There is always a well endowed girl in the group. Normally of the princess/socialite personality.
The first/main girl always wins.
Hm... I'm just throwing out why I hate romance animations. XD Though they stand if you based them on romance anime alone. ;)

Something other than romance: Girls in hentai shout "No!" all the time, but finally like it. Aren´t there any women who like it right away? (I wonder, is there noone with a normal relationship where both just like it?)
