November's Nefarious Navigations of Notorious Novels (and other literary forms).

About to start And Another Thing..., by Eoin Colfer.

Ravenus .. have been making my way through Colin Cotterill's books too. I started with Coroner's Lunch as well. Am now reading Thirty Three Teeth. I do like the books with all their absurdities. Makes perfect sense being set in Loas as they are.

Have also been reading what 4 very close friends gave me for my birthday. The first 4 volumes in the Fall of Cthulhu series of graphic novels. They are The Fugue; The Gathering; The Gray Man and Godwar.

And of course when I got to end of the fourth volume I discovered there was more and NONE of the bookstores here have them.

Scampers off before being bitten.....

This month im reading only poetry in class so i have time to read my own books again. Im reading series books i have unread while i can.

Im starting with A Stab in the Dark by Lawrence Block, 4 book of Matt Scudder series. Have the next book of the series too.

The series is a 70s,80s PI series set in NYC and a modern classic of PI genre.

Some ways into The Machineries of Joy short story collection by Ray Bradbury and it has been pretty good thus far.

Finished Out of the Dark by David Weber - really enjoyed it, even if some of the themes did get a little repetitive after a while and the vampire storyline was a little dissappointing.

Not sure what is next, I keep eyeing up Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel (impulse buy not my usual faire but sounded interesting) or I have some WW2 recollections (ala band of Brothers), some more Feintuch or various stand alones... decisions decisions...

If that's the Vintage or Panther editions they are really good. They've been putting out quite a few "European Masters" series in PB from different publishers I've noticed; particularly of late.

Not quite in the same class nor as extensive in nature as the NYRB series but still very good.

It is the Vintage edition. I agree that they are pretty good and I like that "old school" look they have.

As for the book itself, so far it has been an enjoyable read, although the author's cold and dry style is not exactly my cup of tea.

Could you tell me how many there are left and what the volumes are called please. None of the stores here could help me.

I haven't read this series myself, but there are at least two other volumes (collections gathering the whole storyline):

Volume 5 : Apocalypse (Fall of Cthulhu, Volume 5: Apocalypse: Amazon.co.uk: Michael Alan Nelson, Mateus Santolouco: Books)
Volume 6: Nemesis (Fall of Cthulhu, Volume 6: Nemesis: Amazon.co.uk: Michael Alan Nelson, Mateus Santolouco, Todd Herman: Books).

You can also check The Fall of Cthulhu - Comic Book Series Wiki - Comics Books for further info.

Yay my trip to the library proved worthwhile! Next I will be reading Gridlinked by Neal Asher. Now, is this a Cormac or a Polity novel..?

I believe it's part of the Agent Cormac Series, :) do enjoy! btw have you read Polity War and Shadow of the Scorpion, if not do read it first so that you may better understand and enjoy the series.

I'm now reading Joehaldeman's MARSBOUND.

No I've only read Prador Moon. I can only read the books that I find in the library. Gridlinked was a lucky find (the only Asher book currently avaialble in the village library), I discovered its the first Cormac book.

Finished up The White Road by John Connolly, an excellent read. This is the fourth book in the Charlie Parker series and the more I read his work, the better I like it.

Now reading The Black Angel by Connolly, the fifth book.

That is rather a reflection of the regimes those eastern European Masteres wrote under or about. Just look at 2009's Nobel Prize winner Herta Muller's works. Excellent stuff but not exactly a happy read given she grew up in Romania. That book is pretty satirical in nature as I recall...:)

@Nesa: Fjeronimo is correct. Vol 5 is in stock in our No1. SFF store here but Vol 6. currently out of stock. I'm sure the myriad other graphic novel and comic shops we have here will have copies of Vol 6. Perhaps catch up offline to discuss further yes? Bye for now and good luck.
