Last year in the episode Victory of the Daleks (with Winston Churchill) The Doctor threatened the Daleks with a 'remote TARDIS self destruct button' it was revealed to actually be a Jammie Dodger...
He mentioned Jammy Dodgers in the preview for the upcoming season, TDZ. (I didn't know what they were either, although I suspected they were some kind of cookie.)
PTeppic, I do agree that the daleks are in danger of being over-used. It'll also be interesting to see whether (as with Old Who) the new version has Davros almost (or perhaps actually) always involved in dalek plots, having been re-introduced.
I fancy a Jammy Dodger now... might get a pack in at some point.
Episode was great! I love Katherine Jenkins, and her first acting role was much better than I expected. So beautiful to hear her sing too! High hopes for the next series too. The Nazis making an episode would be interesting, I'd quite like to see the Doctor against Alien Nazis
Sorry to spoil the party, but we didn't rate this much. My kids didn't like it at all, my daughter's boyfriend and his family also independently gave it the thumbs down. I seem to be in a very small minority of one here though!
I'm not sure why I personally didn't like it. The story was interesting. The budget was obviously high and well used. It wasn't Earth this time around, but it was Christmas yet again with all the western Christian traditions. I thought the story jumped around a bit too much (and I was sober when watching - I recorded it!) It was obviously a homage to A Christmas Carol but maybe the references were a bit too 'in yer face'.
The trailer looked good - there was a selection of very usual people and places - and as already mentioned - no Daleks! Will we see a resolution the the River Song questions?
But the jam is not soft, well unless you leave them somewhere warm. it makes for a chewy snack... a very nice chewy snack. I want to see the dodger save the universe, although i think the Daleks may go back in time to stop them being invented so they don't feel silly in the future for beliving it was the TARDIS remote
Oh, ok -- I remember the "remote control" bit, and that it was a cookie, but I either didn't hear or didn't understand or completely forgot the name of it. And then either didn't hear or didn't understand the reference in the previews, as well. It happens to me a lot! If only I could get the closed captioning to work when the sound is still ON, I'd be doing fine!
No worries, Dave - didn't enjoy it here, either. Thought it was silly and pandered to the younger audience. Understandable for Christmas, for family viewing, but just all seemed very lacking in something.
I enjoyed the Christmas special. I liked the 'Christmas Carol' references, yet done in a very sci-fi Doctor Who kinda way.
I'm really looking forward to the new series.
