Ah poo. See, I've already screwed up. Here I am instead of reading the challenge thread first! gah!

I normally read the Challenge thread, find out what the theme of the Month is and start writing up my story. :D

Just had my first read-through of those so far. Some scarily good ones, and tons of variety.

I reckon Perp's watchmaker has been at the Guinness :D (sorry, bit obscure for non-Brits)

Some fab entries already , I've got a feeling this is gonna be a great month.

I'm really liking Digs entry at the moment best of all though.

Interesting entries this month. I was just wondering, what was the inspiration for everyones stories?

I didn't want to get caught in the historical loop, and just a couple of weeks before we were talking at home about the time my uncle was on a fairground ride (not that big wheel but..) that collapesed mid ride. The big wheel just fitted 'revolution'.

It crossed my mind too :)
Think it needs a soundtrack, maybe heavy drums.

I'd say the soundtrack to Restoration, parts of which suggest heartbeats and pendulums.

I love your story Perp. It's already made my short list, and I don't even have one yet.

This month's theme set the musical track in my mind. Beatle's "Revolution" and Crosby, Stills, and Nash: "Three Dead in Ohio." Both of which proved pop singers are poor prognosticators of historical trends.

I did something similar to My Atomic Tales, but he did it better. So I thought about someone having "one revolution" and a pun on that lasting one year, but it was too downbeat. So I thought I'd do a non-serious take on it instead.

Many thanks to all the nice comments about my story.

Digs - yours is just far too emotional, brilliant. It really is going to be another hard decision this month

HareBrain and Slow I didn't think of the Guinness ad until you mentioned it, but now I can hear it in my head.

Soundtrack - something with drum definitely, the first song that came into my head was Revolution by The Cult or something suitably epic, Holst's Mars Bringer of War, some of Heaven and Hell by Vangelis or even the theme from Moonbase 3 - (that's an obscure one)

Star Girl - Inspiration, this one came out of nowhere, perhaps the old Micronauts comic series from Marvel, where universes exist at a microscopic level. Initially it was inferred that the Watchmaker was God, with everything revolving around him.

I was thinks along the lines of the Korean drumming style or kettel drums. its just got that feel to it for me.

I seem to have been determined for some months now to do something of a tribute to Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress (involving a revolution, of course, on the moon). Admittedly, I only approached it in the most generic way though.

Perpetual Man - I have to echo others' comments. A definite short-lister at the least.

I must say the newest entry by Alchemist is great. Definitely a favourite of mine from the list so far.

Thanks SG! Mine came to me while watching Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

I think that's the quickest I've posted one of these. Usually I'm a right procrastinator.

And to think that originally I was going to do something based on a line from a Bob Dylan song...

And now you'll be left with more time to wonder whether you couldn't have posted something better.

(Note that I haven't yet read your entry this month, so the above is not a comment on its quality, but only on Author's Doubt.)
