Knivesout no more
I personally don't think there's a wrong place to start with PKD. But I'm a bit of a fanboy.
You think?.....I personally don't think there's a wrong place to start with PKD. But I'm a bit of a fanboy.

Perhaps, but I certainly think one can do better starting with some books over others. For instance, I wouldn't recommend someone start with "The Simulacra", "We Can Build You" or "VALIS". Not that they were actually bad novels, just simply not showing PKD at his best.He was the first author i thought i must have all his books.
Little surprised at your rating on Brecht. This may depend on what you have read of his? I read and greatly enjoyed Life Of Galileo, which to me is a great work of Drama....or for that matter, what about Cacucasian Chalk Circle or The Threepenny Opera? Mother Courage I didn't like as much nor The Good Person Of Szechuan. I studied some of these incidentally as part of German class and even recited a poem by Brecht as part of the Goethe competition we have here. Sadly I did not win this prestigious event...So 2011 i have discovered:
...............
Brecht ***
.................
The stars are 1 to 5 is how interested i am to read them next after the first book, play. Not how i rated their work.

Well, as per my post, Mother Courage and Good Person of Szechuan are my least favourite of the Brecht dramas. Life Of Galileo is really very good....I read Mother Courage which i thought was themes wise interesting but not a great drama. So *** rating is for that work and can get more respect, admiration when i read Life Of Galileo for example.
I just thought compared to Ghosts by Ibsen and Waiting For Godot by Beckett his play was lacking as a great drama.
Lucky you. He's another whose ouevre I'm close to completing....Right now, I'm discovering:
Tim Powers.
