Re: Writing Challenge Discussion -- January

ooooh - good point! I'd forgotten about that one!

You were probably distracted by the other half of the post.

But she had left herself the exit of
quotedrodent said:
"unless I get really inspired, I'm out."

And I'm not exactly unhappy that she fails to live up to her aspirations in this case.

Mouse - you've made me laugh already! Love it :D (and for anyone newish to the challenge you'll need to go back to the May challenge (I think!?!) to get the connection)

May indeedy. And cheers, m'dear! Glad you liked it. Twas a prequel especially for you.

Ahem. And who is it not just the first day, out of the gates at sprint speed then? Is it a racehorse, is it a whippet? No, it's a fieldmouse.

Heh. I know. But hey, I did have my 'unless I get inspired' get out clause. And both Teresa and Parson suggested I do 'off the cuff.' :D

Good one, Mouse. (I can just hear Snow White warbling away in the movie as I read it.) But I believe you'll be hearing from Snow's lawyer anytime now.

I do seem to be picking on her don't I! She's a sinister lady.

Off topic for this thread I know, but I'm slightly disappointed at there being so few votes in the January photo' challenge. Anyone fancy getting across there and voting? There isn't long left.

It's been a hard day's night
And I've been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night
I should be sleeping like a log.

???????? But what comes next?

But when I awoke I had been carved into the shape of a bench!

I have voted on the photo challenge, not sure who it was, but it was the tree pic. Very cool. Although I realised, too late, that I might have had a good entry myself, I was thinking along the lines of something very colourful, like a snooker table, might have been cool in B&W.

Anyhoo, nice tail Mouse, made me smile, very early entries this month. I have an idea but I need to let it build, if I want to have the right impact. I think it might be my first non-sci-fi & Fantasy entry. Which makes me a little sad, maybe I can make one of the characters a Robot. ;)

I'm going to agree with Moonbat, the entries are flying in already.

I'm going to have to take my time this month, I've already got two and a third already peculating. Once again the quality of those posted is really high, so not only is it going to be a trial making a choice, I've got to choose which one of mine to go with.

But that means one thing - an excellent choice of subject by Digs.

Very much with Mosaix there - and to make life easier click here to check things out:

Please add your vote - there are a bunch of multi-talented people here who post up fantastic pics every month and they deserve viewing and voting too

I did vote, for the gates in Toronto in winter. They are good pictures...

Dammit, I said I wasn't going to read the entries until they are all in, and I just read the first lot! When I see what I'm up against, the creative part of my brain shrinks back in despair, whimpering 'I couldn't do anything that good' and it takes me forever to coax it out again. That's probably why I did so well in the first challenge, there weren't loads of previous months to intimidate me!!

Very glad you did, and it was a fab pic too. Unfortunately, I think there were only 18 votes in total though, which is a real shame.

As for this months competition - thanks to the current sports news, and associated chat on the radio this morning, all I have running through my head is Abba's 'Fernando'. Not sure what to do with that one! :p

I was thinking of posting a pun-free entry this month.

But now....

(And I'll have to say, in this thread: Boneman made me do it.)

My post was on topic. I really was thinking of going all serious.

Same as Nixie here. I got nuffin'.

Even so, a belated congratulations to Digs (can I pick winners or can I pick winners? :D)!

Well I've got the opposite problem to Nixie and No-One - I've got five (Yup five) with a sixth percolating in the back of my drug (legal) addled brain, and no idea which one to go with. Just read them to Mrs Perp. and she really liked 4 of the five and refused to choose between them, but I can't seem to stop the stories coming....

Back on topic please... I'm loving Mouse's story. I'm still not even getting a gen of an idea:(

Thankies! :D :D

I second HareBrain's groan! Love it, Boneman. Some really good ones so far, really good, and it's still the 1st!!

I have a candidate entry - one I can blame on Boneman** - but so far it has only 70 words and could do with an extra pun or two (in those five words***).

Coming up with a punfest is no joke....

** - Although I'd already come up with the final phrase.

*** - EDIT: Make that one pun (or more) in four words.
