Seemingly out of nowehere, and just when I was about to write this month off, I pick up two votes! Many thanks, TJ and mad iguana, and also to Brev for the second place mention! Heck, I'm not far off winning this thing - only seven more votes to go! And plenty of time left to get them!

Well, I've read and re-read this thread several times, and I'm damned if anyone actually admits to have voted for me - so thank you very much, my two anonymous voters...:)

pyan, I was one of your anonymous voters.

I am so pleased: More votes than stories this month. Maybe we are drumming up some interest elsewhere!

And congratulations to The Judge, our second two-time winner!!

Congratulations, TJ!

(And you should all - all save for alchemist - thank J-WO; he saved us from another tie-breaker, as alchemist would have been my next choice for winner.)

Wow, we just won't know what to do with ourselves with all this extra time. Can we have a tiebreaker vote for third place, or something, to keep us busy? (Oh, sorry, Cul ... )

Congrats, Judge!

I think I died, went to heaven, danced with some angels and some...heaven dudes and came back, 5 mentions, 1 vote, awesomeness.

Super thanks to TJ, Mad Iguana and Stormfeather, how you found my story in the haystack of well written stories is beyond me.

Now Stormfeather, I feel compelled to offer you all sorts of favors that if I even mentioned, I would be banned from the Forums, the country and several dubious night clubs. Thanks again.

Congrats to The Judge. You were weighed, measured and found to have written story that would make the gods weep.

Congratulations TJ and commiserations, Alchemist. Both fine stories.

Can we have a more serious theme for April? That last one was a bit frivolous and light-weight.

Congrats TJ!

Thank you for the mentions! A great step in the right direction. I can't wait for next months challenge!

Well, people could try some of the other exercises in the Workshop.

And they could watch this thread for ... something.

Oh, I'm addicted to this thread, no worries there!

I might have to take on some other exercise -- I'm on vacation this week, and not going anywhere, so I have some need of ... err ... something to keep me from working on my NaNovel like I'm supposed to?

Howdy,
A quick thank you to everyone for being kind to the new guy.
Congrats to THE JUDGE.
Bob S.

PS----can't figure out why my kid didn't vote for me---where did I go wrong?

Re: Writing Challenge Discussion MARCH

Thanks very much for the vote, Parson. And after all the nasty things I said about David Weber last night, too.
You've either described the wrong story as mine up above, or made an intriguing interpretation. ;)

The story is yours. The interpretation is mine. I don't think it's a stretch.

Also when Parsons are following their leader they do not hold grudges.:D

------------

Judge: Congratulations on a truly memorable story.

------------

Teresa: Would you care to enlighten us about that story of yours. "A little farther north?" All I can imagine is some Norse King I know nothing about.

Voluspa is a Norse mythological text that tells of the creation of the world and Ragnarok, the end of the the world - which is described as a 'wolf age' when brothers will fight and kill one another and many of the gods die. It's worth having a read about it if you're not familiar.

I'm not sure, though, if Teresa is retelling a story from Voluspa - I saw it as more of a conceptual basis for a story about cycles of tyranny and death and the end of things.
