Grats to the Judge for a well deserved win this month.

Also big grats to Harebrain, Hoopy and Teresa for the whole year, and to all of us who have taken part in this wonderful challenge.

I happily second all of that.

Also, thanks to those who gave me several mentions. It was more than I expected :)

Seventy-five words isn't enough to do justice to a theme with as much depth as spaghetti trees, though. You really need eighty-five to ninety words for that.

Aww man, you mean it might not be spaghetti trees? What am I going to do with all these stories, then?

...wondering if there's a market for a spaghetti tree anthology...

Are you kidding? All the words of all the languages of man couldn't do justice to the simple majesty of the spaghetti tree all girt in sauce.

I heard of the Spaghetti Tree documentary many, many years ago, but I had never seen it. Reading the discussion here on this vital subject, it suddenly occurred to me that I might be able to view the video online.

And I could, and I did, and here is the link for anyone who wishes to do likewise: BBC ON THIS DAY | 1 | 1957: BBC fools the nation

Those shots of flying penguins are absolutely stunning. The music in the background so perfectly complimented the splendor of the penguins' flight that it quite took my breath away. (Strangely, and a little distractingly, I felt a slight tugging sensation in the muscles of my left calf the whole time I was watching the video. Quite odd, really.)

These are truly magnificent birds.

I was thinking of the situation where you're fighting off a flying bear that weighs not far off a tonne, not substituting for its favourite part of the woods**.

I suspect that even that very expensive umbrella would have trouble with a huge mouth full of sharp teeth and swinging, giant, clawed paws.

** - Yes, I know what some of you were thinking.
