Best possible ending?

No, that's just Tragedy.

If I believed in smilies, I'd have inserted one at then end of the last sentence.

I thought that was a disco song by the BeeGees:

"Tragedy!
When the feeling's gone and you can't go on
It's Tragedy!
When the morning cries and you don't know why
It's hard to bear
With no one to love you you're
Goin' nowhere..."

okay, that's enough of that.

Or perhaps not. Could this be Cersei's song, knowing that Jaime's forbidden incestuous love is lost to her...?

Thanks Clansman, that dam song is going to be stuck in my head all day now.

I hope that in the end the Others are defeated but it is revealed that they are actually a race of good-guys pushed to the brink of annihilation by the dark forces of humanity (under their demented dragon overlords). They were all that kept the seasons in any semblance of balance and Westeros is plunged into an infernal, endless summer.

Other points of interest along the way (THAR MAY BE SPOILERS):

1. Direwolves vs Dragons showdown (before the dragons get too big for a fair fight)

2. As I've stated before: JON SNOW MUST DIE in order to set up Ghost for a poignant howl.

3. Howland Reed reveals that Jon Snow is actually the lovechild of Benjen Stark and Reed's wife Betty (who was herself the last scion of ancient Valyrian royalty). This is revealed only after Jon's death (see point 2).

4. Dany takes Westeros, but dies without heirs resulting in another civil war.

5. Sam is flayed by the Boltons and fed to Theon (how people can moan about Bran chapters while Sam's around, I'll never understand). Theon chokes on his thighbone.

6. (Little) Brother Sandor defeats UnGregor in 'the Church vs Cersei Lannister' trial by combat. Cersei is hanged, and Sandor himself places the noose about her lily-white neck.

7. Podrick Payne is made the 1000th Lord Commander of the Nights Watch (after Littlefinger, who's sent to the Wall for tax evasion).

8. Stannis and Melisandre elope to the Summer Isles.

9. Arya's list is completed.

10. Tyrion retires to Lys to write romantic fiction.

The End.

Dany will come take over westeros, Arya must finish her list, Jon becomes the leader of the Others and convinces the north to help him become king.

someone said that the world will be saved but all our favorite charictors will be killed. i think this seems very plausable, but someone we know has to live, even if its not the people we want to rule. i really think that the Others will end up ruling the whole land at least for a short period of time.

Dany doesn't win, because her family were conquerors and that doesn't entitle you to anything more than Robert and co. Plus, It's just to damn obvious.

Tyrion becomes a pirate Lord, he'd suit it, plus he figures the land is doomed. Him and Asha would make an odd but fine couple.

Jon is just some whore's kid, and continues on at the Watch.

Actually, screw that, Dolorus Edd for Watch Commander.

Sansa gets revenge for the Freys and Bolton's betrayl in some kind of underhand tactic taught by Petyr. Also, she marries that handsome, Knightly Squire bloke but we all know she wants the Hound. I'm a sucker for that mush.

Kevan refuses the title of Hand and it goes to Jaime, who tries in vain to unite everyone aganist the coming dangers.

Syrio finds Arya and tells her that she's just been in some kind of messed up paradoxical-philosophy-cult.

Somebody says 'No' to Melisandre and she is shocked. Please.

Sam discovers a way to defeat the Others and has to enlist the help of the varying Mages, Wizards and Witches we've seen, including Meera and Jojen who turn out to be children of the forest, thus began the Reed House.

The Winter is so long that the Arctic ice grows beyond the point of no return and a runaway Snowball Westeros phenomena ensues. Glaciers cover the entire planet a mile thick and all life dies. However, sentient fumarole worms continue to have sex and plot against one another

Either that or the Others are found to be saintly beings that are advanced beyond all comprehension and know how to eliminate all disease, want and rancor among themselves. Turns out THEY built the Wall

Arianne Martell marries Aegon. The armies of Sunspear ally with the Golden Company and destroy the forces of Highgarden.
The Others are destroyed by the unified army of the survivors of all the crap that happens in book 6.
Jaime kills Cersei.
Tyrion becomes Lord of Casterly Rock and marries Penny.
Tommen does nothing and is therefore not killed by any faction.
Samwell Tarly becomes a Grand Maester.
Arya does nothing, just like usual.
