Magic or Technology or Nature= Gods

I am a bit confused personally. To me however it seems a bit like you are asking to be the stage magician revealing how the trick works to the audience. In this case the Gods, Ancient Astronaut or however you term it ascends on a cloud of magic smoke. Unless you are telling it from the more advanced beings perspective than other than your descriptive narrative isn't that pretty much all you need for the less advanced beings perspective?

I mean I am still fairly new to this and I may be wrong so please forgive me but it seems to me that if you are writing it from the one perspective you do not need the more technically advanced descriptors. If I where to see something I could not grasp intellectually no matter how hard I tried to me it would simply be magic. Magic is Magic. Simplistic I know.

Besides many flaws still exist with the ancient Astronaut theories. If the major Gods are aliens then what about the Gods like Hades, Hel or King Yama?

This poses a problem when the characters descends to the afterlife. But then I would say that the living Realm is an "avatar" of sorts, something like Second Life. So the conscious, organism or Human soul is a flow of energy and consciousness. So the "Gods" that deal with the Afterlife are sorta like guardians meting out punishments or organizing that energy flow for return to the surface. Yin and Yang, the cycle of energy.

Perhaps the best way is not to ask too many questions on their origins? I have decided to do a detail description but make the "God" seem techy but magical but with magical dominating the technological aspect. I will do a sample description later.

Thanks a lot for all the support here.

Ok what kind of weapon can be capable of causing a huge wave of water or cause rain?

Hi,

If these gods are ancient astronauts then their tech has to be a vast improvement over what we know and possibly what we can imagine. For a start they have crossed the incredible distances of interstellar space, a feat so far beyond our abilities that I can barely even imagine it. So I wouldn't get too hung up on their tech.

For the clouds they ride around on, maybe a UFO or similar that they sit on which attracts water droplets because its cold (condenses them) and then when it takes off it warms up and you get clouds of steam. To create a wave, well if you can cross interstellar space maybe you have antigravity, and if you have that then perhaps you can lift a vast amount of sea up a meter or too by making it lighter. Then let it go and it'd be like a vast circular ripple after hiffing arock in a pond. Immortality, could be a regeneration thing, hence the way they appear old and young at different stages. And as for personal powers maybe micromachines embedded in their skin - nanobots, creating an energy field around them which allows them to manipulate things with their thoughts. (You might want to think about characters like Galan off Crusade - a technomage as a model.)

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

THanks for your opinions...

I am not sure if people actually saw immortals on clouds as they are flying in the air or they are taking off like a rocket...

But immortals in chinese legends are portrayed as sitting on clouds. I dun have to describe their technology as its magical but then the reason for

I also need to rethink if humans really have life drawing skills that suck so bad that they cannot even draw what they see. I am in the animation line of work and we draw from life many times but it took years of training of one's perception. I am thinking on this theory that ancient humans really had drawign skills that bad they saw a rocket but drew a chariot instead. A rocket does not have wheels.

Hi, it might be worth remembering that the 'ancients' would have described what they saw in terms they understood. I doubt they had words for 'spaceship' or 'rocket' or 'vapour trail'. Remember too that anything 'ancient' you read now has been translated, from translations of translations ... So its easy to get from 'Flying Chariot on a cloud' to 'flying vehicle with a vapour trail'.
Any drawings that have come from the past would have to come with a similar warning, how can we possibly know whether the drawing were done by an actual eye witness or much later, by someone who had heard/read their story.
I think the idea of ancient astronauts is great, (see my 300 word challenge entry) and there is loads of scope to use your imagination with regards to propulsion/weapon systems etc.
If you want some inspirational reading material, google 'Vimanas'.
