How about a six word story? This almost cuts it.

Broken heart, soul for sale. Bargain!

My entry has ballooned to 23 words. At this rate I should have about 50 by the deadline.

And now Mouse is chewing on a dead woman's fingers and creating Prince Suicidal... I dread to think what will happen to the bodies next month.

Prince Suicidal, I like it!

I think mine's very romantical. With a very happy ending!

Anne: There's a six word story thread knocking around somewhere.

A pity we can't have a bit more Happy Ever After, though...

Well, no one dies in mine. That's happIER ever after. In the context of Wills and Kate it's hard to write a true happy-forever story. It just seems... wrong.

Thinking back, a number of my Challenge stories, entered or discarded, could have fit into this category.

It would be ironic if this time, when the genre is actually Paranormal Romance, I couldn't manage to write anything.

Still, I hope to produce a lovely story that will bring a sentimental tear to every eye.

TEIN:

Paranormal romance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And Parson, you old softy, I agree with TJ.

Then it's worse than I feared - And you want it family friendly????

It doesn't make it easy you know.

Well, it looks like we may have seen the last of Snow White.

What beloved fairytale figure will Mouse traduce next?

I haven't read it yet but I had ideas.

EDIT: I have now. Such control, such contraint. Mouse you must be a saint. I had pictures of glass coffins and things unspeakable.

Then that's fine, Anne. :)

I seem to remember that we had a one word entry last year.

Wasn't it just the title - Sloth.

Harebrain's entry made me chuckle, brilliant!
Tentacular :)

When I started to read it I was wondering where it was going to go with a title like that and had to chuckle to!

I think there's a bit more thought needed this month, but some cracking entries already!

Not an easy topic, for me anyway. I'm surprised to see so many good post already.
And I too think harebrain's (hare-brain's? :)) is on top.

Good theme and genre this month - they really made me think! The stories so far are really good, too, so I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the entries.:)

I tried a simple and fairly traditional ghost story this time, and I'd like to think that I gave my characters a happy ending. After the darker themes of the previous months, it's nice to have the option to write something a little lighter.

Woo! A real happy ending -- even if he does have to die first. A good one, Talysia.

As for HareBrian, I see we're back to underwear...

Parson -- you're a man who showers his wife with all kinds of assorted goodies on Valentine's Day, not to mention several hundred cards and love notes. You can do Romance.

Several hundred cards and notes? No, not by several hundred. I'm in love with my wife, it's not quite the same thing as being a romantic. I have written her a couple of love poems. I try to be of whatever help and comfort I can be to her and around the house. But I don't think any of that amounts to "paranormal."

Yes, loved it.

Must say, I preferred the version before the underpants edit (though I see why the edit) - but Cthulhu trying on M&S underwear is an image that will stay with me for a long time.

But not in the final line. I'm broadening my range.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I had all sorts of ideas -- it's a great theme/genre combination -- but as soon as that title popped into my head, I knew I had to go with it.

I'm in love with my wife, it's not quite the same thing as being a romantic.

It's how you express that love that's romantic. And yes, I think many wives would consider your ability to communicate that love (instead of taking it for granted that she knows) in the realm of the paranormal.

And for those wincing at the whole idea, may I point out that in the case of Paranormal Romance, paranormal also means science fiction?

Something tells me that HareBrain's points in the total votes tally are going to soar this month.

Wanders off, muttering to self.

Good grief. Not romantic. *joins Teresa in muttering, though for a different reason*

OK, ladies. Hands up who considers writing love poetry to be in the Mr Romantic Top Ten Things To Make Her Swoon...!

New year, new tally. Everyone starts at zero again.

Best tell people worried about the efffect of HB's underwear to put a sock in it....

*hand*

When I read "I'm in love with my wife" I had to sit down, it was so lovely.

And very paranormal - up here in the icy north, men are more inclined to grunt "you're alright, hen" through their mouthful of irn bru than to express affection for their wives using - you know - proper words (*).

(*) I appreciate that this is not true of all Scottish men. Just most.

What? You mean none of us gets a chance to catch up to him?

Waving hand in the air.

I think I have my story, but it needs some more work. And in the meantime I might think of something else.
