I'm about to embark (;):)) on my (first) re-reading of A Game of Thrones, in the hope of finishing AFFC by the time ADWD is released.

(Oh, and hi there LoW! Long time no see.)

Based solely on the Chrons' almost-universal adulation of China Mieville's Perdido Street Station, said book arrived by post today.

You people had better be right!

I bought Perdido Street Station a few months ago and wasn't inclined to read it any time soon, until I read all the positive comments on this site. Well, I just finished it and I thought it was excellent. The first few pages did not captivate me but I kept reading and was soon caught up in the world of New Crobuzon.

Some have mentioned that the ending was a little disappointing. I thought so too at first, until I realised that what I was feeling was disappointment at not knowing more about what happened to the main characters after the events in the book.

I really hope you'll enjoy the book too. :)

I've already added King Rat to my list of books to buy as soon as I get my April salary.

Hello Ursa! I know, its been awhile. But I'm back now! Good Luck with finishing your reread as well. We'll see if we both can't finish them before the next book comes out.

Well, Stephen King's Dark Tower is now behind me, so assuming I don't take a break from reading for the next week or so, I'll be starting on Philip K. Dick's The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch.

As well as resuming my own personal obession of reaching the end of Burton's opus, which has been sadly put on the backburner for the past couple of months.

*Sets off with grim, Roland-like, determination*

Teehee I read it twice before I bought A Clash of Kings

Finished two of Le Guin's books: Tombs of Atuan and The Farthest Shore now starting in on Tehanu. I love her writing style in these sooo much.

Also still working away at Pushing Ice Alastair Reynolds and a bit of Fight Club - Palahniuk.

One day I'll learn how to read one book at a time.

Yes it's quite popular on here. I've had it in my "to eventually read one decade" pile for a few months :)

Finally finished reading Dust of Dreams by Steven Erikson! What a dramatic finish to this brilliantly written book; sad but exciting.
Erikson’s wars; characters and the landscape again written so well. At times, I actually felt that I was there. So far, only one other part of an earlier book had me in tears!

Now I have taken The Crippled God from the shelf and the first word after the poetry is a very familiar name! Since then I have been reunited with other characters whom I have met in previous volumes. Characters that I loved or hated. Now I feel as if I have just returned ‘home’! I look forward to living in Erikson’s world for the last 900 pages.

Just finished Shaman's Crossing my Robin Hobb, and have to say that I enjoyed it immensely, a bit different and a great bit of world building. Am quite looking forward to the next one, but taking a break now and reading Imperial Spy by some one called Mark Robson. I'm sure Ive seen that name somewhere...

I just started K.J. Parker's The Company. I am also reading SF short stories from Asimov magazine.

I'm now reading The Eternal Prison by Jeff Somers, I'll gladly indulge myself in the world of Avery Cates again. :)

Why'd she drop the K?

I'd put that on the publisher rather than her. I'm sure she hasn't dropped it - and it's certainly on all my LeGuin's, including my Avon paperback of The Dispossessed (though those are old, so wouldn't reflect any recent event).

Finally made a start on The Crippled God as per usuall spent the first 100 pages or so going "who?" ... malazan wiki ... "oh, them!" ... every time the PoV changes (which is a lot).

I'm currently reading Dante's Equation by Jane Jensen and loving every page. It starts simple enough with Torah code, some quantum physics and a lost manuscript, but when it kicks in, it kicks into overdrive. I love it! :D

Finished off Feed. Great book, and I am really looking forward to the sequel. I felt like something small after this, so chose Frederick Pohl's Turn Left at Thursday. This is just a collection of Pohl's short stories from the end of SF's golden age.
