I read the WitchWorld books when I was a kid, and I still like them. The Crystal Gryphone is my favourite. But the later books, co-written with other writers, seem a bit worse to me. I'm not saying they're bad books. But they lack the distinctive atmosphere that the earlier books in the series had.

I also like the Solar Queen books and the Forerunner Foray book. It's about a girl with extraordinary powers called Zianta. The scene where she is trapped in a tomb with the reanimated corpse of an ancient warlord really scared me as a kid. But I still reread the book several times. Also, this Zianta had a very cute furry pet.

Many of Andre Norton's characters had funny pets, but Ziantha's pet seemed the cutest to me. It looked like a furry ball with little paws and a bird-like beak, as I recall.

It had pretty interesting ideas, plot wise, for a YA
