Kim Harrison

Hi, Ferret! That's good news. Ten books will give her characters a chance to develop over time.

I've read Dead Witch Walking and The Good, the Bad, and the Undead. I thought they were both good reads. :)

I've had tons of folks suggest Kim Harrison once they know I like Kelley Armstrong; her and Mary Janice Davidson.

I agree that these types of paranormal-action-romance are not horror. They really need their own genre heading.

Some of the books that would fit into this genre are Laura Resnick's Disappearing Nightly (a fun read), C. E. Murphy's (no relation) Shaman's Crossing, and Kelley Armstrong's werewolf/witch series. Almost forgot Patricia Briggs Moon Called.

This is an edit. It's supposed to be C. E. Murphy's Urban Shaman. I have Robin Hobb on the brain.

I call this genre urban fantasy. Fits as well as anything else.

I've read up through A Few Demons More, and have have enjoyed them thoroughly so far. The books are pretty faced paced, have quite a bit of action, and have likable creative characters.

These are the first contemporary/urban fantasy (don't exactly know what to call them) novels i've read, and i'm quite glad i did. I was a little hesitant at first, thinking that they were just romance novels with vampires...the covers are a little "romancy". But i was pleasantly surprised, sex doesn't drive the plot, the small amount there is just strengthens it.

I might have to check out some of the more established authors of this genre.

Ive continued to follow this series by Kim Harrison - got some reviews of her books on my blog - and though some of the books are better than others - I have continued to enjoy this series.
