1.09 Game of Thrones - Baelor

It's been ages since I read the books - was that Yoren holding Arya at the end? I can't remember the significance of Ned's "Baelor" either, though I'm sure I'll be reminded soon...

Not 100% sure, but I think the statue Arya was standing of was Baelor, so when Ned said it, it directed the attention to said statue

Yes, it was Yoren and the statue of Baelor (the largest in King's Landing and one that Arya recalls later on).

The bloddmagic was awesome and I am really really liking Jorah more and more. As one of my favourite characters I was skeptical with the portrayal but they have done a fine job with him.

They did well to show Cersei trying to tell Joff that killing Ned was foolish.

The end was especially interesting keeping one eye on the TV and another on Mrs. Perp who did not have a clue what was coming (a incredible display of restraint on my part for 9 weeks)

As we got closer and closer to 'the moment' I had one eye on her and one eye on the screen, and when the realisation dropped her face was a picture.

Absolutely stunned and disbelief. I think she has suddenly realised that no character is safe which make viewing a lot more interesting from now on

This was the case with me and Mrs. Snow as well. She was absolutely shocked! She was a little more upset than i originally thought she would be (which lets me know she is really getting into the series). All she said was "First Drogo and now Ned?! I'm done!" and got up and walked out of the room. I think she is just upset that those are her two favorite characters. She asked me was Drogo going to die, and i told her to wait until next weeks episode. I torture her by not revealing anything, and i love it. Is that wrong?;)

I still haven't been catching up with the series, but I did decide to view Sean Bean doing what he does best (dying) on YouTube. And yes, even when you know what's gonna happen, you're still so on edge. Maybe more so because you know. Wow. Joffrey is perfect (well, to me, in this scene) -- every bit the little s**t I came to call him. Interesting points of change. From what I recall, Ned doesn't see Arya in the books? And doesn't direct Yoren to go get her ('cos it's a lot more unexpected, and probably the first of many Arya book cliffhangers). But I liked the addition. And bless Arya. Gripped Needle as if she were going to fight them all off. Brilliant.

Mrs Perp, hasn't mentioned Drogo yet, so I'm keeping my trap shut... nut that one of her favourite characters too.

A fan's reaction to Ned's death. A bit of fun.

Ned's death alone will guarantee a big audience for series 2.

His review to the episode 9 is much funnier, and I'm going to see him going absolutely mental when and if he's going to find out 'who' was behind the whole thing. At that point, I believe he's going to shout out for a murder. And if HBO plays this properly then they are going to reveal this bit at the end of the series 3 (straight after the red wedding).

I am going to go back and check out his other reviews because this one is priceless.

What TK said :)

And I know Shae has been brought up a couple times in this thread.

She.Was.Awesome.

I'm a book fan, read GoT back in '96 when Slick Willie was still slick and 90210 was king.

I'd LOVE to lodge a complaint against the series, but I can't.

Outside of the books, it's just really, really good television.

I don't think I can add much to what others have already said, but what an episode! I knew what was coming but I was on the edge of my seat despite that. What an amazing job they did; they were able to keep the intense feeling of that scene for those of us who have read the books. I am so sad we only have one more episode. :(
