I'm surprised by the number of votes for Arya. While I think whatshername does a decent job, it doesn't stand out all that much to me. For the most part, though, I'm reserving judgement until the later seasons when Arya's role grows more significant.

I'm also surprised by how Joffrey and Littlefinger hardly got any votes. I think they both nailed their respective characters. Joffrey, in particular, is exactly how I imagined him to be.

And Tyrion! How is he not leading this poll? I thought Peter Dinklage would run away with this category. He was already one of my favourite characters in the series, and Peter's portrayal is terrific.

For most of the others I am -- as with Arya -- witholding judgment until later episode/seasons as their characters get more time to shine to see what they bring to the table.

I enjoy watching every scene involving Tyrion. Its nice to see how he manages to maneuvre his way out of difficult situations. Honorable mention should also go to Arya and Khal Drogo, especially the latter. He and his nation of horsemen reminds me of the ancient Scythians.

I voted for Catelyn, and I'm surprised to see I'm only the second to do so! She may not be the most exciting character, but I think her portrayal is completely brilliant. Definitely winning me over.

Honourable mentions: Arya, Jon Snow, Jorah, Littlefinger, Bronn, Tywin
Most improved (i.e. actors I didn't like at first but are beginning to convince me): Daeny, Robb
Most overrated: Tyrion (sorry, I just had to)

I voted Jermone Flynn, Harry Lloyd and Nikolaj. Seeing as I protested quite loudly about Jerome and Nikolaj, I think they've done good. :)

Had to go with Maisie's Arya as the one that stands out as the most perfect out of a ton of great acts of casting.

I have to agree.

There are quite a few who are very good in their role, but she has been nothing short of perfect.

With my 4 votes, 2 were quite predictable. Tyrion and Arya are perfect.

Jack Gleeson as Joff is amazing. Such a snarky, smarmy little brat, I just want to strangle him. Been watching the series with folks unfamiliar to the books, and he's spot on for the role.

Michelle Fairley is doing a great job as Cat. Really brings alot to the character, and I have been impressed with her performance.

I voted Jermone Flynn, Harry Lloyd and Nikolaj. Seeing as I protested quite loudly about Jerome and Nikolaj, I think they've done good. :)

I also really liked Nikolaj as Jaime. His scene with Catelyn in the final episode when he says "There is only me" revealed so much of Jaime's character.

My Lannister boys are living up to my expectations.

I was actually a little disappointed with the way Jaime delivered his "There's only me" line. He just wasn't arrogant enough. I think that line is possibly the most arrogant statement to ever come out of any character's mouth, and I love it, but TV Jaime just didn't quite get the aloofness across that I mentally picture when he delivers it.

To be fair to the actor, the TV series has been humanizing Jaime somewhat from day one. Book Jaime is far more more cold and insolent, which to be honest, I like better. That way you appreciate his transformation all the more. But, that's just my tuppence worth. :)

I have to agree with Cul regarding Charles Dance. He's only been in two scenes, I think, but he brings forth Tywin's dominating presence.

Iain Glenn looks so good as Jorah. He has not had to display his chops yet, but it seems there is a lot there just under the surface.

Dinklage is doing very well. He really shines when displaying Tyrion's nonchalance at others insults.

This is easy to turn into one of those "Who is your favorite?" threads. I think it is supposed to be about which actors are really standing out from the crowd. And so it's easy to omit the villains in this thread.

I must say that Harry Lloyd really makes me loathe Viserys. He only had one scene this season where he was the main character, yet he really comes through as vindictive, weak willed, petty, arrogant, and mean.

I agree with Devil's Advocate that Jack Gleeson is great as Joffrey. I want to spank that brat. I wonder if the writers will give him the line, "One of these days... Pow! Right in the kisser!"

And even though Catelyn is not a villain, Michelle Fairly's acting really helps bring out Eddard, Tyrion, Jon, and Robb.

And last but not least, I see I'm the only one who voted for John Bradley as Sam. I don't know if the directors and writers are sucking the little life out of Jon Snow or if it is Kit Harrington, but John Bradley is injecting Jon with purpose, honor, laughter, and vitality. I think Bradley is absolutely spot on.

I have to agree. Despite her age, and what some others say about her looks, I think in the very first episode, when she was still very much a happy character, the actress simply glowed. Later on, I think she portrayed Cat's hardships quite well. She portrays every inch the noble lady that is Cat Stark.

I also agree with Boaz. he is Sam, isn't he? He could be no other.

This was a hard poll! I voted for Ned, Arya, Tyrion, Joffrey, Sansa, Tywin and Jorah. Forgot to vote for Catelyn.

And then I made myself stop there because I could happily click just about everyone.

Sophie Turner (Sansa) and Jack Gleeson (Joffrey) are superb and I feel I need to make special mention of them. Playing such unpopular characters can't be easy but they do a grand job.

Peter Dinklage - Tyrion Lannister and Jason Momoa as Khal Drogo...
though it was really disappointing that they killed the best character like Khal Drogo including Eddard Stark...

There is no doubt that Peter Dinklage as Tyrion was the best portrayed character in the show, that's why he won the emmy.

Maise Williams is a close second though, her as Arya is really good.

Here are my votes:

Maisie Williams as Arya Stark
Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister
Richard Madden as Robb Stark
Jerome Flynn as Bronn

I really think Liam Cunningham as Davos deserves to be on this list.
