Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

It would appear both contests this month will feature Sci-fi tales. Should be interesting. Never tried mind hand at writing science fiction. But I find I'm actually wildly inspired for both this and the seventy fiver!

T.E. Thanks for including the thumbnail, I couldn't view it all on the thread. And..... I already have an idea:eek::D:)

I couldn't either. Thought it was just me /my computer. My thanks as well for the thumbnail Teresa Edgerton.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

The pic shows up fine on my work and home PCs, so I don't know what the problem is there...

I wouldn't say the pic limits us to science fiction. I'm definitely going to go into it with an open mind.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

That pic was from the photography challenge, was it?

Someone's been having better holidays than me.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Well, I can't speak to what kind of vacations he has (almost certain to be more interesting than mine) but the artist is a Chrons member, known in these parts as Fuzzy Modem.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Ooooh I like that picture...

An idea or two there....

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

And I've taken out the image that some people can't see, and put in the thumbnail, which I hope that everyone can.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Is there any kind of link to a larger version of the picture? I have clicked on the thumbnail and I get a bigger version but nothing like the size of the clock in the 1st 300 word challenge. I only ask because there does seem to be a lot of detail in the picture that I'm not sure if I can fully make out.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

Not sure if this will work, Moonbat, we've had a fair bit of trouble with the image but try here [link removed]

If that still isn't big enough for people, I'll be wriitng to Fuzzy Modem to let him know the pic is up, so I'll see if he can give a bigger version.

EDIT: removed the link since it isn't any use!

As large as the picture of the clock was, there were still details that were hard to make out. I think this will always be the case, unless we choose very simple images -- but we want complex images so that there are many elements to choose from in searching for inspiration. We're not expected to interpret the picture literally (unless we want to, of course), and if everyone picks out different details, then so much the better.

But if your browser allows you to zoom in, Moonbat, you should be able to get a larger picture and see more detail. Using Safari, I can go up to View, hit Zoom In, and then click on the thumbnail. Voila! A larger picture. I don't know if it would be another sequence with other browsers, or if you can even do it at all.

(Reminds self to check and see what happens with Firefox.

Nope. Doesn't work with Firefox.)

That looks smaller to me. And besides, that post is in a moderators only area, so I don't think anyone but moderators will be able to follow that link.

Ah, Teresa was right. Sorry about that. Oddly, when I clicked on the thumbnail on this thread first of all, I got nothing, so I wasn't sure how big it came. Just as well Cul came riding to the rescue!

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

TJ, see what happens when you click on the thumbnail in the other thread.

I may have to tinker around with that first post a bit.

Re: Discussion 300 Word Challenge #2

It's fine on the main thread -- and on this thread when I checked again just then. Biut I've been having problems all morning generally with not being able to connect to emails and then threads/pages hanging/timing out, so it's undoubtedly something my end. Much more of it and the lap top is getting thrown into the composter.
