Jade sort of has the right tone -- all that being 'a false jade' and stuff. There's malachite too -- that's green (and stripy...) How about the sea? That can be green -- and deep -- and scary?

It could be a compliment to her sagacity - Patina is the Discworld's Goddess of Wisdom. Easily recognised, she's the one carrying the penguin. It's a long story...

It would be, if she was. As a teenage super hero who has to keep wagging school to save the world, complementing her sagacity would only insult her. If she knew what sagacity meant.

Her sidekick does. But Our Hero herself is from 'the super villain Hellhound ate my homework' school of super heroing. :)

Then how about 'her eyes went hard and glistened -- like lime midget gems' or something?

What would the police say/do if you told them you thought someone was trying to kill you?

Tried Googling, didn't help.

They tend to take that sort of statement seriously. I don't know the full workings of the police, but from my experience, they like to be safe rather than sorry.

Presuming you've gone into the station, the person on the desk would normally ask for more details and then pass you on to another officer if they thought it a viable concern. That would normally be in a more private setting.

Over the phone, I imagine it would be similar, but I'm not sure if they would send someone out to you or ask you to come in to the station to talk further. I suppose it would depend upon the urgency (if you believed someone was actively trying to kill you there and then, or it was a belief that someone had it in for you generally, with possible homicidal intentions).

I would have thought they'd have to take that more seriously, Mouse. Cos if it got out they hadn't then they'd look bad. Also, is it like I'm in danger from a stalker, or something more immediate?

Celebrity guy thinks somebody's trying to kill him because there have been a few murders near to places he's stayed recently. It's quite vague.

So far, nobody's approached him or tried to hurt him (with his knowledge anyway).

Some of the things they would probably want to know would be:

Why does he think someone is trying to kill him? (i.e. why don't you think this is coincidence? how is it related to you?)

Does he have any enemies?

Can he identify anyone in particular who he thinks may intend him harm?

If he's a celebrity, they might ask him about his own security arrangements.

I don't reckon they'd take it that seriously; they might think it's part of his sort of self love. they might tell the forces investigating, though, in case it was relevant.

Also, if it crosses county borders it's probably different police forces, so that might make it harder to know which one he should tell etc.

Good stuff, Aber, ta.

Springs, yeah it crosses county borders. I didn't think of how awkward that makes things! gah!
