Where to start.....

Not quite sure Fables is up my street after having a look.

Fables 1 precis:

When a savage creature known only as the Adversary conquered the fabled lands of legends and fairy tales, all of the infamous inhabitants of folklore were forced into exile. Disguised among the normal citizens of modern-day New York, these magical characters have created their own peaceful and secret society within an exclusive luxury apartment building called Fabletown. But when Snow White's party-girl sister, Rose Red, is apparently murdered, it is up to Fabletown's sheriff, a reformed and pardoned Big Bad Wolf, to determine if the killer is Bluebeard, Rose's ex-lover and notorious wife killer, or Jack, her current live-in boyfriend and former beanstalk-climber.

I was hoping for something closer to Nightbreed than this......

Any ideas?

wow, that sounds fairly similar to the new TV show "Once upon a time" the evil witch from Snow White cast a curse and now all the fairy tale people live in the same town but none know of their past life except for a little boy that is the child of Snow Whites daughter. Its a decent show but I think I know where they got there base idea from now.

Update:

Currently reading "The Swamp Thing" Vol.1 - the one written by Alan Moore.
Currently about half way through and definitely enjoying it. Anyone know if it picks up at all as it seems a bit slow right now........

Hi thatollie, sorry taken me so long to respond to you.

The Courtyard by Alan Moore was originally released as a 2 episode comic but recent versions such as the one I have include both comics in the same release. It references much of Lovecrafts Cthulhu mythos and tells the story of an FBI agent looking into a series of unconnected but mysteriously similar deaths. It's written well and the artwork is amazing. It's continued in the Neonomicon which again I'd recommend.

I think I read somewhere recently that both The Courtyard and Neonomicon are being released in one hardcover volume. Be warned it is very adult with graphic sexual and violent content.

Cheers

Swamp Thing - surprisingly didn't do it for me. Really thought it would as I love horror and sci-fi/fantasy.

Anyone know if it improves after vol 1?

Or should I leave it there and move on?
