32.10: The Girl Who Waited

Thought this was a solid episode, if a bit schmaltzy at the end.

Speaking as someone who never touched a computer until I was about 19 (the PC was invented just a few years before I left school), and didn't start doing any really serious programming until I was in my mid-thirties, I am (on reflection) perfectly OK with the idea of Amy learning an unfamiliar technology over the course of 36 years.

Yeah, I could probably reverse-engineer a sonic screwdriver in 36 years, but not without a working model!

Isn't the basic model just a sonic generator, i.e. probe....?

Finally watched this episode, and didn't think much of it at all.

The Doctor is yet again relegated to a secondary character, which would be fine if we had strong characters to take over - but we don't.

Amy's only emotion is "feisty Scot" and Rory's is "stupid dumb bloke".

It wouldn't be so bad if there was a working back story to all of this developing, but there isn't, and everytime we touch on it, it breaks down anyway.

Found this episode really weak - a nice idea, but weak on substance.
