Needle

BIG pat on the back and grats to you :) You've quite the juggling act I guess, ahcool, kids and an actual life :D

PS you;ve chosen a great profession IMO. The need for skilled nursing is going to skyrocket over thwe next decade, as all of the baby boomers trade in their cars for wheelchairs and depends.

On another personal note- I received my AA in nursing for an RN degree last Sat.! Went from a 10th grade education to a college degree in just over 2 years, I am proud of myself but the point here is to thank you all for the help you unwittingly provided! it was a very stressful 2 years and this is my de-stress place! Thank you all!

Well done! A profession to be proud of and as Imp noted it should have good job security in an ever changing world. As one of the aforementioned baby boomers my appreciation grows as my infirmities mount.

I plan to do this next time I re-read, and I bookmarked the post that gave the reading order. Have a look here:

Awesome, thank you for the link. This is a fabulous idea. I have all 5 books in e-book format although the first 4 are standard EPUB and the last 1 is B&N but I think that may prove beneficial as I read on a tablet so should be able to jump back and forth between reader apps without any real issues. This seems like an ideal use of my time in the depths of winter this coming January. It would be nice if the phrase "winter is coming" did not have quite so much reality connected to it.

Let's form a sub-group--

Barristan's Bold Boomers :D

I completely agree with you all! This forum has become my favorite place to be. It is the first and last (and usually sometime in the middle too) thing I do each day. My son laughs at me because I complain all the time about how much time he spends online, and now he says "Moms talking with her friends again!" and I am! I could so hang out with you all!

I will stop threadjacking now! :D

P.S. Mesanna, I can supply the pies!

Congrats Needle!

I'd be happy to agree, but i can't remember what I'd be agreeing to :(

I'm not sure what is going on but I am certain I have no idea who that old fart in the mirror is every morning. I would question my wife about this but I am afraid of what she would answer. ;)

Just catching up.

Congratulations, Needle! Smart career choice, with lots of possibilities. Good going.

Maybe we need a medical related sub-group, although Maesters of the Chrons sounds just a little pompous!

How about Arya's Arteries? (grin) Can't think of a good name.

I'd also ask my wife, but the only person I see around the house is this attractive older woman that seems to be way too old for me :D

I like ursa's idea of BFS as it is repetitive yet new and creative. I'm calling myslef a charter member :D

Sorry for my late response, i was overseas for quite a while.

I have almost finished the book and you are right for some strange reason i do seem to be going through it more quickly now than i was when i first started. I still do find that i am not really that interested in any character as much as i was in the first few books. I guess there is Jon, i really cant think of any other character that i really care about or want to know what they are doing. Bran is doing some "out there" things. The rest are all characters that i sort of look upon as being support characters so its hard for me to really care about them. Like stannis and all the other armies running around. I think its the wall and the Meeren situation that really keeps me going, so i guess its Jon and Daenerys but the latter has disappeared on a dragon.

And being the idiot i am, without thinking i highlighted the spoiler on the first page and discovered the Jon plotline "gets interesting". Anyway like i said i am close to the end so i will see it happen for myself soon anyway. Not sure who i will really want to read about in the next couple of books. I guess the battles and the political intrigue will be interesting, maybe over time i can learn to love some of the other characters, but most if not all my favs are dead :(.

Tyrion is ok but doesnt excite me much. What i mean is whenever i am reading books like these or Wheel of Time, everytime one of my fav characters chapters comes up, I am excited and cant wait to read the entire chapter, then i just go through surviving on the non-fav character chapters till i come across another fav character chapter.

WoT is the best example, over time there was more and more chapters on characters that really should have been background chapters and less on the main characters which made the books harder and harder to read.

Edit - just realized this was a thread bump.

But my reply still stands:

Best acronym in the world is YADL

Congrats Needle, that's awesome.

Well done. :)
