Some Challenge cross-pollination here...the December photo challenge is up and the theme is Christmas. Everybody has Christmas photos, right? And any Chron can enter. No special skills required. I won (well, jointly, with Mouse) last month, so you can too.

Here's the thread for the photos http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/534344-december-photo-challenge-read-first-post.html

And the thread for discussion http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/534345-december-photo-challenge-discussion-thread.html

Yikes! This one is of a high standard. A bit out of my league, I think. Still, I have a sort of idea and will submit something. Doubt if it'll be much cop, though.

[EDIT] - I don't think it'll get any better so I've submitted it.

I posted my entry. I finally got internet back to my home today, after almost seven weeks without it due to storm damage. Electricity to some of the villages didn't get restored until last week.

Anyway, back to topic, I really like the entries this month. I've never read much Steampunk before, but I like the idea of it and I particularly love the idea of being able to interview I K Brunel. Thanks High Eight.:)

I posted mine, I dont think it will get any better by playing with it, i'm almost afraid it will get worse actually.
Abernovo I liked yours. :)

Hope that is fantastic - I adore it. That's going to take some beating for me it's one of the best things I've read in ages.

:)

Nice to see you back!

Yes, fair dues to Moonbat; the theme and style work well together, and lots of really good entries; two more tonight.

I haven't entered yet, but the standard is so high I'm getting nervous about doing so. That's never happened before!

I'll get back to my comments this week, but it's not going to be hard to write good things about all the ones entered so far, the problem is going to be to find the words to do it without repeating them - there are only so many good ones!

Well, I have now finished and brought down to length two, but rereading them I'm not certain that anyone but myself would see why they are 'toys', so I will hold off submission until a more ludicrous (= of or pertaining to play) subject be delivered by my muse.

At least I'll be assured of having something to post, in the panic preceding my annual family trip (two new grandnephews this year, if all goes well).

Glad to hear you are all right and have power again.

Well, I don't - as I completely new to it - do I have to inform here when I have left a contribution? I ask because I see many others do so.

No, don't worry, Forgotten Realms. As springs say, not everyone reports in and there's no obligation to do so -- but some of us are talkative and we like to announce the arrival of our stories to the world! If you want to join in the chat here, please do.

Perhaps I'm alone here, but when I think of Steampunk, my mind goes to an age of raw and naked technology. Not necessarily the "Steam"powered aspect, although there certainly is that, but the absolutely crazy looking gizmos and clock-work inventions. I think of Treasure Planet, that was more on the invention/robotic side of things rather than necessarily the way it worked.

I just hope I don't get docked for my interpretation of the genre :)

thats more then i know, all i know about steampunk is that its a kind of music which is almost close to my taste, and that my seamstress friend did up a really neat hat.
I think Victorian robots, misty streets, dastardly dashing dandies, and corsets.

Absolutely corsets. We should have more of them.

Um... so I suppose the rules are the rules and there's no way we could have an extra vote as a Christmas present, at all? Just wondering...

Last year we got three votes for Christmas.
So as the prescident has been set....
