Flipping a coin is the answer to any decision: in that split second before the coin actually lands you know for certain what it is that you really really want.
I know Robin Hobb is a good writer, but I couldn't get into Assassin's Apprentice. The writing style didn't suit me.
Both Steven Erikson and Robert Jordan are much the same, I don't think you could have gone wrong with either of them, if that is what you were after in the type of book you wanted to read.
