TE, I don't even know what you mean by "The Uncanny." *sigh*

Yeah, me neither.

EDIT:

Whoops, helps if I check replies to my other post.

Mysterious, eerie, unsettling.

But we have a March Discussion thread now, where we can discuss the theme and genre.

So creepy, unnatural stuff. Like the link suggested, think Edward Scissorhands... infact, I think a lot of Johnny Depp's movies would fit into this category. (Sweeny Todd and Sleepy Hollow for instance).

Well, that's the point behind it all, but understanding what both parts of this month are, I'm not used to realism in my writing. That'll be my challenge this month. I think I could do eerie or mystery.

Congratulations, Teresa, on your nail-biting win! A most excellent story.

This new challenge sounds ...err...exceedingly challenging. I shall no doubt contemplate till the very last second.

Nail-biting? I thought she had it throughout. Bob did gain some at the end but TE did just manage to stay ahead.

And it seems I may have to turn to Piers Anthony for inspiration on the genre...oh dear.

Interesting theme - it's giving me a headache already, but very interesting.... hmmmmm

just reading further on the theme; in the celtic countries we have a healthy respect for the faerie folk who live around us. I feel a walk coming on this morning, at the fairy glen, and see what inspiration I find. (I have 2 ideas fermenting already, let's see which takes root...) Nice one TE

We do that here too; hide our poteen stills in fairy rings so nobody finds them ;)

I think I'm going to enjoy this one.....now, where did I put my inspiration? ;)

I think I might have to go and get Angela Carter from the bookcase;).

I like reading Magical Realism, but writing it? This could be a stretch. Possibly a good thing.

Uncanny was originally to do with the occult.

The OED says it is strange or mysterious - like a feeling of being watched. Guess what Torchwood called corner of the eye stuff.

Oddly I know what narrative I am going to use but nothing else.

Great theme. Interesting that we don't have a single entry yet, normally there are three or four by now. Either people are learning to sit on their hands for a day or two or the theme is giving us all pause for thought.
