im going to say the hound, just because he is faster (presumably) and he hates his brother with a passion tHat would drive him to win. also, he wouldnt make the mistake that the red viper made.

The Hound. Amongst other reasons I would point out that the Mountain never seems to fight anyone even remotely close to his size. He seems to have plenty of experience at killing children and raping serving women though.

He would not have used a spear either. He'd be in range of that greatsword the entire time.

But on the other hand, somehow this is the fight of Sandor's life and to Gregor it's just Thursday. I suspect Sandor has studied Gregor's techniques like no one else has ever studied an opponent before. The whole reason Sandor picked up a sword at the age of ten was in the hopes of someday killing Gregor. Sandor's killed dozens, if not hundreds because of his anger towards Gregor. Each fight brings him closer to perfection. Sandor, sure as sure, would be sober for this one. This fight is Sandor's raison d'etre.

But until someone comes up with better reasons, I'll believe Gregor wins.

I would want the hound to win but saddley feel like it would be the mountain. Aside from the poison the red viper used i dont see anything taking down the mountain. He k he wouldnt even die easy or like others from the poison it took for ever before he finally loat that battle and was taken away per cersi's orders for reanimation.

However i think the houng would be the only one to even stand a chance. It qould be a good long battle but in the end i feel gregors energy would outlast sandors.

This is just going on evwn ir umstancea. Both healthy sober and no favoring extras for either in choice of weapon location ect.

Hate saying a win for the mountain cause i dont want him to lol

The Mountain, sadly. I'd prefer the Hound to win, but I don't think he would.

This, I think, is pretty good evidence that Sandor would win. Especially the bolded part, as I don't think Greggor studied the Hounds technique at all, or ayone elses. the mountain just relies on being a big ******* that has a big sword.

I will admit that the amount of punishment he can take before falling victim to it is a bit worrisome, but my money is still on Sandor getting a killing blow.

There are very few certainties in this series but one of the few things I'm certain of is that this fight WILL happen. The Hound and Ser GregorRobertStrong will meet and fight and The Hound will win. Or they'll kill each other which, I believe, would still be a win in Sandor's book.

It has been brought up quite a few times that the Hound may not be dead, and I just wanted to ask, where did this theory come from? as I remember in the books, he was as dead as a doornail. can somone enlighten me as to how he might have survived?

to be clear, I'm not saying he didn't merely pleading ignorence.

Wow, just reread my own theory in that thread in the first post and it basically says exactly what I said in this thread. At least I'm consistent!

I believe Sandor would win but only for the above reason. Gregor is big, viscious, and usually emotionless. In this case I feel it would be like the case of the Viper in reverse. Gregor would put Sandor down and have to gloat over him, at which point Sandor would take him out.

A clear win for Sandor!

Okay, so I read this through, and am now jumping on the bandwaggon that Sandor is Alive, but the Hound is dead. All the points mentioned in the above thread are almost inarguable.

Thank you Vizion!

I am still saying Sandor would take out Gregor in a fight, weather he dies in that fight as well is besides the point. But we will have to see how Ser Robert Strong fairs against whoever he has to fight in the coming duel to decide cersei's innocence. Qyburn may have endowed him with some other spooky powers that may note bode well for Sandor. But if we are sayign this fight takes place when they are both healthy, then it would need to be Pre-FrankenGreggor. Whatever he is now, it cannot be healthy.

I think the Hound would win, because he is being written that way. And he has the chops.

On the other hand, the Mountain could win, and that would make the Hound quite a tragic figure. Perhaps someone like Arya could avenge him.

The Mountain would destroy the puppy. I mean we saw how badly he struggled against Beric, let alone a guy twice the latter's size. Gregor only needs a torch and the Hound will be running with his tail between his legs like during the Battle of Black Water.

Gregor is a killer, he doesn't stop, even when poisoned he still manages obliterate his opponent, while the Hound is too sentimental and in reality would rather play with dolls and do dress-ups but his silly vendetta against his brother is forcing him to act tough lol.

To be fair, there was much more fire at the battle of blackwater then there would be if Gregor had a torch. Also, the hound HATES his brother and would want to fight him, no matter what, while during the blackwater, he hated joffery and tyrion, and so refused to fight FOR them.

And as far as I can remember, what spooked him about the battle of blackwater was that there was flaming arrows literally falling all over the battlefield. He was scared of the randomness of it all, and that he couldn't keep and eye on the sky or determine where the arrows were going to fall.

If he was fighting one on one and the other person was using a flaming sword or had a torch or whatever, something he could keep his eye on while still fighting, I think it would, if anything, make him fight back harder.

Neither would win - they would fatally wound one another. This would be tragically fitting, as a) there can never be hope for justice in the world while Gregor lives; b) the Hound lives only to kill the Mountain, and so long as he knows he has succeeded, will not care what happens to himself.

Just a thought. :)
