Prince Caspar and his grooms man, boundcast into two oaks as punishment, stand broken hearted either side of the A30 to London.

I will marry you!
Yes, my love!

For 700 years Caspar has sent across a bud containing a gold band that neither bandit jackdaws nor barrister magpies can snatch.

Morning; beauty shimmered like the dew,
enticed and captured me.
Midday; burned with life just like the sun,
set my mortal soul free.
Evening; glowed like dusky sky,
tired and walked away.
Night; lit the world with pale moonlight,
never looked my way.
Destined; never to be,
my sweet love and I.

A fairy queen is quick and keen,
but heart is fickle and fey.

A trickster of the netherworld,
never long to stay.

Briar Rose

At the tender age of one-hundred-and-sixteen, her heart shatters.

The prince who kissed her awake is handsome and kind, eager to wed. But he is the wrong one.

That will be his curse. (The fairy, it seems, had more than one grudge to pay off.)

For the boy that Rose loved never made it through the maze of thorns, and died in the attempt a hundred years ago.

The neon princess

His battle scared hands caressed the princess’ delicate skin. She was as intoxicating as the acid rain banging on the lounge’s tainted windows. The hour rang.

She dressed, smiling at her prince with the same meekness she did to all of them.
He handed her the credits, and his heart, and stormed out of the castle.

Under the heavy rain, he looked one last time at the red neon lights of Princess Han’s massage parlor.

HER SIDE OF THE STORY

'An angry queen' the old songs call me.

Well, of course I was angry. I loved him. I swear I would never have sold him to the underworld - whatever the mortals sing.

At least I gave him up with good grace. I owed him that - I didn't even take his eyes as I threatened.

But that bitch Janet? Wooden eyes? I'd have given her the coldest, heaviest flint heart if I'd have known beforehand......

Stealing A Kiss

She remembered the legend her mother once told:
‘At midnight, cast into the well something your beloved made,
By dawn make haste to the Faerie Glade.
Kiss your beloved under the old Whisper-tree,
And away your love can never flee.’

Getting them both to the glade was the difficult part.
He sat propped against the tree, deep in slumber.
She checked the restraints again that bound him to the tree.
Dawn was coming
.

The swan dips her beak and ruffles her feathers.
The cool autumn breeze caresses her nape.
Her feet kiss the water while kicking along absently.
She watches the trees as the wind billows through branches.
She is hungry, but not for fish.
She sighs a soft quack.
Alone on the lake a beauty seldom touched.
I am scared she will not like my dark magic for her white.
I cannot leave that nape un-nuzzled.

Forget me not

I can't live without him. I don't want to think what will happen if he doesn't come back.

His first kiss awakened something in me I can't explain. And when he nurtured me, I truly became - there's no other word, no way to describe...

I thought I was the only one. Now I stand with the others, praying for his touch.

Love in a mist.

If it doesn't rain soon, we'll all die.

Damn gardner.

A Weapon of Love

Arthur rowed out onto the lake. The auguries had whispered that his destiny would be cemented here. He neared the sacred spot. A woman’s hand reached out of the water with Excalibur, an invincible sword. Arthur took it and smiled as he thought of Genevieve.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Downtime: I have given Arthur an X-caliber weapon.
Homebase: Why take this unacceptable time line risk?
Love has reasons that logic cannot know. He doesn’t even know I exist.

Oh! That monstrous thing

Ashbella had many suitors, but her eyes gleamed for the King's champion.

One day, he rode passed, as she river bathed. He gave a smile.

‘I love you,’ she blushed.

Alas, he declined. ‘Commoner. I could offer a fling, yet nothing more’

Devastated, she watched him leave and resolved to drown.

But she was saved by an honest woodcutter. Who proclaimed his love, on bended knee.

‘I couldn’t love you,’ she spluttered. ‘A stupid peasant!’

Mother's Embrace

She cries, clutches the bundle closer, curls deeper into the shallow cave. Hiding from the father.

The bundle squirms and chatters wickedly. Left in the dungeons for centuries, the child's mind had blackened.

It means death to bear fruit with her kind. 'Demon only begets demon', they say.

He's found her now. Their eyes meet. He cries. Love would stay his hand. His love had made their son demonic, not her blood. She prefers death. (75)

Grey riding hood

I can smell her on the wind again. Here hood grey, though it is probably a different colour. Damn me for being colour blind.

I follow her.

A cottage, it looks warm. A hag opens the door. I've been here before.

At night I sneek in and eat the hag.

I wait.

She comes the next day. I confess my love, she screams and runs. The bangs open a axe flys down.

"oh ****."

Don't cry for me Salix Babylonica

Br-Ent watched her dancing in the rain. She made the storm look delicate, bending with the wind, dancing pure emotion, she was the storm.

He left the forest to climb the hill and tell her 'I love you'.

She ignored him and continued dancing.

His heart broke. The rain fell.

He called on God to strike him down, the storm answered.

Atop the hill stands a weeping willow beside a charred and fallen ash.

Love on a Knife Edge: Azor Reborn?

The procedures had been long, painful and expensive, but seeing the results, Azor smiled.

His joy was short lived.

“You’re still the same inside,” she said. “You still have bad genes.”

“But now you won’t flinch when you see me.”

“I will, and for the same reason as before: disgust at how shallow humankind is, doting only on physical beauty.”

“I don’t understand.”

“How do you think I came to look so beautiful?” Belle asked.

Standards

He plopped another heap of manure from barrow to ground and looked at the window of the tower.

Deep blue eyes, long, flowing hair, and a rosy cheek. She is a vision in gossamer, but she isn't for me. She is a prince’s prize to be won. So be it.

Her stepmother, no matter how wicked, loves me dearly. Too bad about that enormous wart on her nose.

Even peasants have standards, you know.

Straw shows how the wind blows

Straw everywhere.

Trapped by her father’s boasting, to spin all into gold and wed, or fail and die, she wept.

“I’d fain be queen, but do this I cannot.”

“Let me,” he said, even as she recoiled from him.

Taking the spinning wheel, he sat and span – gold poured to the ground.

Spinning, spinning, gold and grieving.

“Kind goblin, what payment ask you?”

“I ask...” – your kiss, your love, your heart – “... nothing.”

Nothing he received.

Smashing Pumpkins

'Sweetheart, kiss me quick!'

'Of course my lov- IS THAT HUMPHREY?!'

'Sweetie, please-'

'The swine! Imagine showing up, after what he did to Bessie!'

'Sweetums, I have until midnight-'

'You know that horse has never been the same. D-darling, stop pulling my neck; it’s frightfully annoying.'

'Sorry. But I only have seconds…'

'He has a new magic mirror!'

'You’re not listening, are you?'

'I’M the fairest! Aren’t I darling?'

Splat.

'Darling?'

'Oh. Where’d she go?'

Love Triangle: The Wrong Sister

Twin sisters, seen as one.

Morello loved him from afar, his gentleness, his charm; despite his ugliness.

Whilst Mirella gave her kisses, her body, willingly, to this troll of a man on a bed of one hundred mattresses. Her belief strong, that kisses would release him from the spell.

But the prince within, he’d not reveal to this golden haired beauty. He’d heard her gloating; to capture his heart, his riches, his lands.

Morello cried.
