Dinosaurs I may be able to handle, I'll struggle with science fiction fiction but humour

As I lost my sense of humor sometime back in the Pleistocene (I think a mammoth ate it), I decided to get it over with and post my story.

Great challenge, Perp. Two fantastic entries so far. I'm stuck on the science fiction bit...

Glen, that's brilliant! I kind of expected a time travel story, but you outdid my expectations. Top notch, old bean!

Teresa, you've been infected with an Ursine punning virus. I'm trying not to laugh/groan/both - and failing. That'll keep me smiling for the rest of the day.

I loved them all so far, it's going to be a fun month to read, just what we need with autumn approaching and no summer to remember...

Okay: rayguns, check; aliens, check; dinosaurs, check; humour, I have no idea. When anyone finds anything funny in what I write it's normally an accident.

I have an idea! Unfortunately, it feels a bit big, but otherwise it's on subject, fits genre, I'm probably the only one who will get the joke (who else has read "West of Eden", Bill, the Galactic Hero" and "Star smashers of the galaxy rangers" {with a tiny bit of "A transatlantic tunnel, Hurray" thrown in}?)

And a tribute to an author who has just recently left us, too.

I'll go and write it, and if it comes out less than a couple of thousand words, try and cut it down (If not, I'll probably put it in my blog).

Somehow, I don't see this one being in verse.

When I heard that we were doing dinosaurs and SF, I thought it was a joke!! And then I heard Dinosaurs, SF, and humor???!!!! I've said often that I think that the hardest thing in the world to be is funny on purpose. Now Perpetual (dinosaur) Man has gone and made it a requirement.


Edit: T.E. you've just made my task even more formidable. That was brilliant!

Chrispy, any Harry Harrison-style piece is going to get my interest. My first thoughts were of the Eden trilogy.

Okay, this one really is confounding me. I could do any combination of two out of humor, sci-fi, and dinosaurs. But all three...

Well, keep on trying. It's not called a challenge for nothing. Thought I had something, but it would have easily fit within a three-hundred.



Okay, somehow, reading through other entries always seems to give me some kind of idea of what to do...I don't know why.
