Im reading Crossing the Mangrove by Maryse Condè, a Caribbean general fiction novel i wanted to read for class,gender issues. The translator is doing well job,making the writing natural, the prose look beautiful.
 
Finished "When the Sleeper Awakes" by H. G. Wells and started "Fugue of a Darkening Island" by Christopher Priest.
 
A classic yes but many find it long winded and tedious. I personally enjoyed the journey but it was very long!

Yes it doesn't have quite the pace of Journey to the Centre of the Earth, which is, so far, the only other Verne I have read. However I am still enjoying it!

Cooo! Just managed to scrape it in in November - just finished the second in The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant: Fatal Revenant.

And will start: Forest Mage by Robin Hobb next.
 
Finished Pandora's Star by Peter F. Hamilton this week, just picked up Judas Unchained in order to finish the series off, as advised by many reviews of Pandora's Star!

Its great, but I think a lot of the detail is lost on us when he goes off describing marine life for 5 pages at a time! I'd imagine such details were thrilling at the time of writing, even the made up bits!
