Just pre-ordered Magician's End from Amazon. They have a date of May next year

It's sad to think, after so many years, it's all coming to an end :(

I think it'll be released before May; he handed the book to the publishers two months ago.

I wonder how it'll all end. He hasn't given many clues away in the previous books.

I have only read the first 2 books, Magician and Silverthorn. That was over 20 years ago, so I will have to re-read them so that I can remember the story and carry on with the series.

My latest theory is, he's trying to throw a curve ball with the title & it's not Pug.
I'm not going to say who I think it may be, incase I inadvetently let out a spoiler

TBH, I'm glad it is coming to an end (I hope it is anyway). I first bought magician in 1985 and I have got every book as they came out and enjoyed them. He was my favourite author for many years.
My problem is, it has dragged out for too long and has just become a gravy train for the author. The quality imo has declined.
I received Jimmy the Crawler book today and was bitterly disappointed that it was 144 pages long. I will read it tomorrow in one day. I can't believe they can justify selling such a short short book with a recommended price of £14.99.

Bring on the final book and I hope he does not write another because I believe his heart is not in it any more and he does it just for the money.

one very disappointed ex-fan.

Anyone who has read his series will know it is not Pug. The series has many times stated that Pug will out live all his family so it does not take much to guess who dies.

Do we know for sure if this is the last book though? Personally I think Feist will drag it out for a few more books to scrape the barrel dry.

Another dedicated fan - I know that I can't help but read the last one, since I've read all the rest (Wheel of Time series anyone? that took determination to get through..) but if the writing's as loose as his last few, then it'll be a disappointing end :(

Doesn't mean it cannot change.

It's definitely the last book.

Of this story yes, but when I asked him about it on twitter. He said he would be starting another set in the same world but wouldn't elaborate further.

Just over a month to the final book. My thoughts are turning to it now. Pre-ordered at Waterstones for half price. I'll be sad to see it ended. From the highs of Magician to the mediocre of some of the later books I've loved the story that began with two young keep boys, poor, nothing special who grow to be the most powerful men in the world.

Once I've read Magician's End I'll start again from the beginning, including the Empire series and the Krondor books.

I reread the Riftwar, POB, Kings Bucaneer and Serpentwar a year or so ago. They were great. I have struggled through the past 8 books or so but I cant help but read them all. Can wait for this one to end it. I hope to reread the rest in the next couple years

I finished reading the Kindle version of the book two days ago. I thought Ray did a nice job of tying off a great deal of the various plots and sub plots. The book was a good read with quite a bit of action. In my opinion it was a worthwhile conclusion to the 30 year story.

I realized after the fact though that we never figure out what happened to Nalar "back in the day". My only regret. ;)

It did. And it was nice to come back to some of the older characters from the earlier books.

Although they didn't mention anything to Elvandar, particularly Aglaranna, Calis and Calin and how they felt after what happened to Tomas.

They mentioned him in the book, they said he wasn't part of it or some such nonsense. Seemed like a cop out.

After that ending they better not continue with Phillip.

I'm not really sure what to make of this book; it has a good plot and wraps everything up nicely. His writing, as in the previous ten or so books, just seems to be a bit loose and lacks the depth seen in, say, the Serpentwar Saga. To be fair, maybe I shouldn't have read the Empire series for the first time just before reading this book...!

I thought the ending was great, but there were no real surprises. Macros mentioned the nature of time in the void way back in Magician, whilst Nakor's ramblings during the Serpentwar saga formed the basis of the lore involved. An enjoyable read.

Mmm I enjoyed it, if he is going to start all over again with Philip I hope he gives it a break for awhile and writes more in the style of Faerie Tale. I was pleasanty surprised he kept the threads of the different story arcs coherent. Was also pleased he kept magic away from the civil war. He revisited some old characters and a little part of me wanted Authra to appear and proof once and for all he was a better swordsman than both Hawkins.

I wept. Admittedly, I was pre-menstrual..:D

From when Tomas regained controll of Ashen-shugar to the end, my eyes were watery, and i defenetly wasn't any pre-menstrual.

But i thought the book was amazing, it would have been nicer to see more of what happened after and with everyone else, and Hal and Stephane's wedding. But a decent ending to what is most defenetly my second favourite Story of all time after the Star Wars Films.
