Best Iain M Banks Culture novels to start with?

I've always been fond of The Bridge, not exactly a sf novel, although it does contain many fantastic elements and features a wonderful sword and sorcery/ science fantasy pastiche within the narrative. The State of the Art is a decent collection of his early short stories and serves as a good introduction to his sf work.
