Ian Sales - Adrift on the Sea of Rains

Congratulations on winning the 2013 BSFA Award for Best Short Fiction for Adrift, Ian. :)

I hope this story will become more readily available to US readers.

Ian, I meant available to non-Kindle American readers and at a price that doesn't involve large overseas postage costs. In other words, it needs to be picked up by an American publisher or included (with royalties to you!) in an anthology. I'm saying this not just on my own behalf but on behalf of American public and university libraries.

Ah, right. Sadly that's not something I have control over. Though, to be fair, I self-published it in the first place because I was pretty sure it wasn't commercial enough for an existing small press or genre imprint. Happily, winning the BSFA Award shows there's a market for it - and while it's considerably larger than I expected, it's probably still too small to interest a US publisher.

But if I had mentioned sails, you might have said it was a wind up.

There's bound to be a few caulkers out there....
