Female antiheroes?

An oldie but goody - Morgaine - The Chronicles of Morgaine by C J Cherryh

She's single-minded, ruthless and doesn't count the consequences for herself or anyone else.

Maybe I have a different idea of 'anti-hero', especially of the female variety, but I would throw in more Amazon-type heroines--well those who defy gender roles. Lord of the Rings had Eowyn, maybe one of the strongest female characters in last century's fantasy. I've got a soft spot for shield maidens, though.*Arya Stark from Game of Thrones comes to mind. I guess GRRM has a load of them actually. ;)

In movies, how about the Princess Sorsha in Willow? She turned out okay in the end, plus she married the anti-hero. :p

This one was about angels.

Just for the record, I am now over angels too.

*hides away in a corner and weeps over his WIP manuscript about angels*

Anyway... I think one of my protagonists is turning into a bit of an antihero. She just wants to live her life in peace yet something always goes wrong. She is definitely reluctant.

To be honest, I can't really think of any female antiheroes in recent fantasy. Mith's suggestion about Monza Murcatto comes close but even she is too "strong" to be considered an antihero. The currently in fashion "strong female lead" concept took over and phased them out a bit, I think.

you could try researching the age of the five trilogy, by Trudi Canavan it features an anti-heroish woman called Emerahl, also referred to as the hag she is a couple of centuries old and has the ability to physically change her appearance, to look any age. not much of a description but there you go, i think its worth looking into.
