3.03: Game of Thrones - Walk of Punishment

Lenny is quite correct.

This was one of the better episodes so far. I like the added scenes and think they arw critical to the vieqing public in understanding the story. The standout scene for me this episode was the Small Council and the little game of musical chairs.

To be fair, I thought** a lot of the torture mentioned in AdwD was Theon recalling it. The show is showing rather than telling some of this, isn't it?

** - It's about time I re-read that book.

I don't know if this constitutes as a spoiler but: You are correct Ursa. I looked through the first few Reek chapters in ADWD and it is him recalling it. Guess I'm the one who needs a re-read. :)

I couldn't but smile when it dawned on me who the guy helping Theon was. Stillgoing from the book a bit but you've got to allow a little 'creative license'.

I forgot how much happens in ASOS until series 3 started. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series. I love reading everyone's thoughts on what's going on, especially where it becomes instantly clear who has read the books and who hasn't!

All I can say to those who haven't is, you're in for a few treats.

Personally I prefer the way the books have unfolded. You can't deny that the TV series has taken a lot of liberties (especially in series 2). However I appreciate that you need to make these allowances and enjoy looking at the two as separate entities.

I absolutely love the Brothers Without Banners, in both the books and the show. Especially Thoros, I could happily watch a spin off series just following them.

I wonder if someone can confirm. *SMALL SPOILER* Am I right in thinking that they have re-cast Lord Beric Dondarrion from the small cameo appearance he made in series 1? I am sure I read that somewhere a while back.

svalbard, the Small Council scene was the best of the first three episodes. I'm not a director, writer, actor, nor any type of theater or film person, but I thought the scene was brilliant. Of course, it did not happen that way in the book... but writer let the actors carry the story without words. So... in a few seconds we knew that Baelish was the first to slide up to Tywin, Varys was next, and Pycelle was forced to the back... after a few more seconds, we knew that Cersei (like she'd ever move her own chair) got even closer to Tywin than Baelish... and then we saw Tyrion choose his own side. All that happened in less than a minute. It was all true to the characters (except for Cersei doing physical labor). And it did not confuse the viewers with more dialogue... rather it strongly reinforced who they are and how they view each other.

It is rare when the saying "Less is More" applies.

Brilliant.
