Writing spaces?

Oh no! I went deleting loads of my Photobucket images yesterday, and when I reloaded this thread to see if my image was still here, I saw it. I cleared my browser cache and tried again, just to make sure, and it was still here... Photobucket must keep a cache of its own for a while.

Here we are again, then:

As I said last time, I share the room with Seph and we're lucky in that his living room is spacious so we can have two desks together. His area is to the left, mine is to the right. We both have PCs set up, though this is an old photo - back when the desk wasn't hidden under mounds of world-building and planning notes, and back when I wasn't living here full-time! - so where the netbook is, there's now my PC. It's a nice space, and I sit facing a bookshelf - which is inspiring.

The purple tilde is called Tildo. I wrote that in my post yesterday, but edited it out in case anyone laughed at him. But Tildo's so cute!!!

AMW - I kept looking at your pic thinking that poster looked like a LotR one. When I just viewed the 360 pano, I saw it clearly. Lovely! The poster on our wall there is Beleriand. :) I've got a giant world poster for Earth, too, but it's still at my folks'.

Anyway, it's nice to see where others write and get their inspiration. Writing spaces have to fit the person, imo, to be the most effective.

I have a corner desk where the pc is. The room is not exactly tidy, so I'm not going to post a photo.

The opposite wall is full of my sketches. Some of which can be seen on my profile gallery.

Mine's not really a dedicated writing space, but more a mutable "everything" space - I'll throw a pile of notes down and the space changes, just like that:

Unfortunately, I've lost my tub of pins and can't put anything on my corkboard (I refuse to put anything on my walls - I don't like looking up and seeing clutter). :( So for now it's where my Funny Cats calendar lives.

When I am writing, I can scoot backwards to my bookcase for reference ("how does such-and-such write an opening?" for example):

And finally, I'm lucky enough to have a decent view, so if I can't think I'll spin round, put my feet up, and stare out:

Thank you, Glen. I hope you can make a place for yourself and your books at the new house.

I'm enjoying seeing everyone's spaces. I love the bright colors on your walls, Leisha, and envy you your view, Lenny.

Well, the rearrangements have been completed, so this is my living room, or three quarters of it, and some of the books. There are more books in the cupboard sections of those units.

The little coffee table is where I transfer the laptop to in the evening. The computer table is for working from. And, as you can see, I have supervision from a four-legged person. :D

She's currently stealing your passwords and hacking all your accounts, Aber!

I wish I could say I have a dedicated writing space, but the nearest I came was a screen on an arm that allowed me to work from my armchair, but that is long gone as it took up too much space.

So now I write where I can, at the kitchen table (on paper or on my PC - it's set up on the spare TV), I do a little on my tablet and Kindle, but as a whole what little I do these days is done at my desk at work. I'm lucky enough to work in a job where I am able to do things like that when I'm not too busy. Unfortunately I've been so busy of late I'm lucky to find the times to my comments and take part in the challenges.

(Well the job and two youngsters).

I Have a plan to convert something into a writing space but that is not something that i will be able to do for a while.

Okay, I will out myself as a messy brute.

Here is my desk and bookshelf. I'd like to make it clear that the outrageously hideous 80s black ash furniture is my landlady's and she doesn't want me to dispose of it. Anyway, like Hoopyfrood, most of the books are Stephen King or Michael McDowell. :p

Hey! He only takes up two full shelves (there may be a few more hardbacks on a shelf that's just out of view...) that's barely anything :p

Cool spaces everyone, I'm jealous of Lenny's 3 monitors. I'm just tidying mine up and decorating it to look fancy before I post a pic ;)

This is my writing space, although for first drafts I prefer to take my laptop and go somewhere outside to work.

I'm jealous of Gumboot's. :D Look at all those great maps and character sheets in plain view! I can't do that else the living room will look a mess. Nice to see Scrivener, too!

And I'm loving the models in Lenny's photos - especially the one on the cupboard! I want them!!!

As for mine and Seph's walls, Teresa, they're due a major overhaul. He likes bright and I like pastel, but we've possibly settled on teal and purple for some point in the future when we have the cash. The rest of the flat is purple, so it would fit in nicely. :p

Mine's a total mess, so I won't assault your eyes with it. It's a cubby under the stairs. Suffice to say, I have a bat'leth on the wall, along with a few pictures as inspiration for characters/settings, an a dragon's skull (real, honest!) And a beer fridge I don't use...

Oh and this:

Is ma coo.

But...but...it's orange! (Least it looks it) How could you paint over orange??

Heh! Yes, it is indeed orange! :D But it's been orange for aaaaages, so it's due a new lick of paint. Have no fear, though, it won't be changed for a loooong time yet!

I wish you and No One could have a holiday up here. I'm sure you'd love the orange in real life!
