Matt Smith Quits Doctor Who

I hope Clara sticks around.
 
That's so sad. Coming and trying to take Tennant's shoes wasn't the best move but then again they could have done so much better with the scripts.
 
My gosh, they are going through incarnations like tissue paper.

And Matt Smith has been so spectacular in the role. I will echo that "Noooooooooo."

But I suppose that now he's demonstrated what he can do, to a worldwide audience, he wants to see what's next. He's young; he wants to try new things. But couldn't he have waited another year or two? He'd still be young then.

(Actually, from my point of view, he'll still be young for several decades.)
 
I think he has done a good job. But alas, he's decided it's time to move on. So good luck old chap :)
 
Perhaps they'll take the opportunity to have a female Doctor - it's been a long time sice we saw a Time-Lady, so to speak...
 
Or maybe a seamless transition when it turns out that the Girl That Died Twice actually regenerated rather than died...
 
Since there'd be a new Doctor at some point in the future, I think the timing's fine. Get the 50th anniversary and Christmas out of the way, then 2014 is a blank page for Whoever. I vote for Hugh Laurie! :D
 
Funny I was going to vote for Stephen Fry lol Maybe reunite them :)

We've had two tall lanky doctors in a row. I'd like to see someone totally different. Michael Ball? He does a rather good woman.
 
Let the bookmakers open their doors... but I don't think TPTB will go for a woman. Probably.
 
Laurie as the Doctor, Fry as his assistant. Called Jeeves.

I'd prefer it if they didn't get a woman to do it, in the same way I think Othello should be played by a black chap. When gender/race is part of the role that particular demographic should be stuck with.

This is especially the case when they can simply bring back Romana and have it not so much Doctor & assistant as Doctor & an equal.
 
A bit of a shock for Sunday morning, but he has been in the role for a while now and perhaps it is time for a change.

Perhaps it is time for Moffatt to move on too, keep the show fresh with a new producer too.
 
Actually, to clarify my previous, I'd rather they don't pick a woman. They shouldn't remake "Alien" with Lt. Allan Ripley or "Wizard of Oz" with Derek and his little dog Toto.
 
Heavens. I go away for the weekend and this happens!

Clara is becoming more and more like Rose every day.
 
Oh, dear.

Well, I guess the timing is good, which it should be for the Doctor, so we'll see what comes next!
