A Canticle for Leibowitz?

I thought Canticle was fabulous. I bought a hardback of Saint Leibowitz many years ago, but then heard such bad reports that I've never read it and, in all honesty, I'm not sure I ever will.

None of which detracts from the brilliance of the original book.

I picked the original novel up in hardback in a second-hand bookshop. I had heard of it after buying a copy of The Encyclopaedia of Science Fiction for about a quid in my local library years before. It was the original 1978 edition edited by Peter Nicholls & was well over twenty years out of date when I bought it. When I first saw it I thought it would just be a load of 'Klingons & Daleks', but I bought it anyway.

What I discovered was one of the most comprehensive & erudite works on Sci Fi I had ever seen.

It has introduced me to many authors & novels over the years, even if it is a bit old. They now have a website.

So, I thank the SFE for reading 'Canticle'.

I'll probably get around to the other novel eventually.
