Well, since I was well and truly scolded by Hoopy for not making the last thread in time, here is the next one super early. :D

In book seven, Elayne, Aviendha and Mat come closer to the bowl ter'angreal that will restore natural weather to the world, whilst Egwene begins to gather all manner of women who can channel. Meanwhile, Rand must face Sammael in Shadar Logoth.

We also meet a new, fascinating character who is a bit of a mystery player.

All in all, lots to think about and lots building!

My only grump is that the cover artist drew the Crown of Swords the wrong way up on the cover. Blades should be pointing down. Then again, when did the artist ever follow what's actually written in the books? Heh.

P.S. And this is weird. I remember reading this book not so long ago AT ALL! Hoopy's catching up so quickly, and the next books after this one don't take much reading, being far shorter than we're used to! Hoops, do you realise that you're now exactly halfway through the series? It goes by so quick!

Aaaand... I forgot to mention that in this book you will FINALLY see something you've been waiting for! Plus, there's one of the funnest threads of the whole series, according to Seph - the Mat thread when... well, you'll see. ;)

And last night I was thinking about Hoopy reading this series. I can't wait for her to get to book twelve. There's a certain town in it that I think she'll go NUTS for, knowing what she likes. Old readers should remember a certain... night-time town. :D

Well, the opening summary I nicked from the official blurb on the back cover... :D Then again, I always found them spoilery. I shall refrain from it next time! Do you read the back covers? After about book... eight or so, the spoilers stop and we just get a generic quote about light vs shadow.

Anyway, I shall calm my excitement, too. (That's almost impossible with me; I'm always excitable. Probably not helped by the fact I've just had a sugar rush because someone bought me biscuits!!! BISCUITS!!! MARYLAND COOKIES!!!!!!!)

So yes, you might not get to book twelve.

*passes out from either shock or sugar rush*

Oh, heh. Sometimes I look at the backs, but my versions have the generic light vs dark, usually, so don't tell me much. I did pick up one of the newer versions in a charity shop to look at and they do seem quite spoilery!

(I've just finished off a bag of chocolate covered pretzels, mmm).

Ooh, chocolate!!!

No. Must resist.... will be hummousing in a couple of hours.

Anyway, wow. So the US editions don't give everything away? That would have been awesome! I ALWAYS read the backs - I couldn't stop myself - and then I'd wonder what the point of reading the books was since I knew what would happen. :D

I'm exactly the same, except instead of "the backs" read "these threads". (Yes, even the hidden bits. I'm hopeless!)

That must be a weird way of doing it, though -- it's a random jumble of events that we talk about!

But has there been anything major that's made you want to read them? ;)

Yeah, I can't say as I've understood much! But there have been interesting, if incomprehensible, snippets that might have encouraged me to read the books if they hadn't (still) been so long.

Why can't Reader's Digest get on the case?

Whoa! HB, you can't spoiler yourself out here! If you ever became mad enough to read the series, you wouldn't feel the shocks! I can't believe you even read the hidden parts!!!

So, what's the part that sounds most interesting to you, that almost tempted you to read?

(Watch you don't accidentally get sucked into the series. Poor Hoopy did...)

I know, I don't know how that happened. Part of me still wonders how. ;)

I was going to scold, but in the same position I probably would have read all the spoilers, too :D

No, don't worry, it's quite safe. I explain why below.

I don't know, because I can't remember any of it clearly except that something explodes!

I think it's mostly Hoopy's growing enthusiasm for the various revelations about ... er ... wotsisname and the thingies. I remember that she was once like me, all "bah!" and reluctance.

I'm still unlikely to get sucked in unless I receive a hefty prison term for some reason. If that happens, I'm set!

I REALLY loved the thingymajigs!

The explosions weren't bad too. ;)

EXPLODING BODIES!!! There, does that help you to remember? :D

But okay. So you like that Hoopy's sounding more and more hooked? I have to say, I can't believe it either. Everyone was all "Too much like LotR", and while I knew that myself, I also knew that it becomes nothing like it. And somehow it sucks you in. I still remember how I felt at the end of book one. It took Seph a year to talk me into picking up the next book. Honestly, I think I only picked it up so he'd give me peace. :D

HB, I shall pray for a prison sentence for you.

Or not. Maybe a loooooong, relaxing holiday instead.

It has arrived! And in amazing condition to say it was a mere 20p.

Also, I'll let you off, Leish, this hardback version has a blurb on the inner cover and it has all that spoilery stuff from above.

Anyway, I've read through the prologue. I flicked through it and saw Elaida and Niall and Gawyn and Morgase and was all 'blaaaah' because they're all my least favourite characters -- but holy hell **** went down! Especially in Niall's section! Whoa!

That Nicola is being quite the crafty one. Shocking. Just can't trust people with that name! Interesting that she's got two Talents though, including Foretelling.

Speaking of which, I have a feeling Elaida's at the start of the book isn't as she expects. Rand probably will have to face the anger of the Amrylim Seat, but there's currently more than one...

Yes, Lan is finally on his way to Ny! I want a massively squishy reunion.

Ha! I must've known you'd get a spoilery version. :D

And yes, the prologue was waaaaay better than I'd hoped, too. I'm always disappointed if a prologue doesn't have the *main* main characters in, but this one hooked me anyway! And heh, no, I didn't expect Niall's scene, I must say...

Edit: Whoa! Where did the above post come from?! It wasn't there when I wrote this!!!

So, ha! Yes, I was sooooo looking forward to the Lan/Ny reunion. But what state is he in?!

And yeah, I must admit thinking of a certain Orangey person when reading the Nicola parts. It's cool that she's devious and Talented.

I thought the same as you, too - that Elaida's Foretelling isn't what she expects. Then again, she is still the official Amerlyn Seat...

Yes, blimey! Wonderful! I've been plotting/worldbuilding with Seph this avo... so I just popped on briefly before I switch off my PC. It seems you picked the exact same moment. Great minds!

(No, I didn't get any WoT read either this avo. I will in bed, though. Eep! The End draws closer.)
