Discussion thread - SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE August 2013

Central philosophy of life in the UK: whatever our disagreements - whatever we are for, whatever we are against - we are "For tea, too." :)

I am "for tea, too"! I'm glad to see that it really is the meaning of life -- I've been telling people that for years.

Congratulations, Hex. :)

Thanks for the mentions / short lists Glen, Starbeast, Tywin, Lenny, TDZ, Jastius, Mith, Paranoid Marvin, Sleepy Doormouse and Ursa.

You're welcome Mosaix.

right so i missed voting this month - definitely meant to but was on holiday in morocco until the 27th

No worries about being away. I wish I was with you Mr Orange.

Explanation time...
I must say that I was rather puzzled by the two mini-reviews,
I can see where religion might have crept in - Anyway, what was it all about? Galactic hitchhiking, obviously, at least in terms of context, with (an) Arthur appearing, the Triganic Pu, Ningis; a Ningi, as some of you will recall, So in a way, the despot's love of money is the root of the his forthcoming overthrow.

Ah, got it. Unfortunately I haven't see the Hitchhiker's Guide movie in a while. But there was a familiarity about your story that haunted me for an indepth review. But I couldn't get it. Even after the challenge, it bothered me. I knew I was missing something, and I had to ask you Ursa for clarity.

Then, you told me, and I felt like a big goof.  ;)

Thanks dude for the info.

Let's see what HEX has in store for us.

Don't worry about it. As I'm used to people not getting my puns (possibly because most are far too obscure), I realise that it's hit-and-miss whether what remains** after just about everything has to be cut to make the story fit can be decyphered by anyone but the author (who remembers the bits that were removed).

Which is why I normally (have to) explain what was going on.

** - Sometimes what remains is so obscure, the reviewer has to fasten onto something - anything - and run with that.

It's cool. (sometimes editing can unintentionally alter a story) I like to get obscure myself.

But it's always good to try anything and everything, that's what I like about the challenges. I never know what to expect from the others. Meanwhile, I try to think up something out-of-the-ordinary, without looking at what's been submitted already.

I do applaud anyone who tries something bold and way-out. I admire creativity and personal interpretation.

See you in the next challenge Ursa.

A belated congratulations to Hex. Well done, on an excellent story. :)

Thanks to jastius and Boneman for the listings. I wasn't being rude in not thanking you -- just stuck in the lands of no internet and massive power cuts.

Many thanks to Mith for the vote! Totally unexpected, and probably undeserved, but much appreciated. Made my day/week/month seeing it. :)
