POV's

k, so, distant first could be like the disimpassioned tone of a trama victims relation of their trama?

I felt his knife on my throat, and then his breath on my neck. The sky was blue, and then I found myself lost, naked and alone.

that kind of thing?

i think what I've got going in my story in question is close third. because its in her voice not mine, except for that one bit where i follow a different character and then its closer to his than mine, though I'm not sure its in his yet.

I'm getting thats what is meant by close third, that as the narration follows a character about it gives their voice to the narritive without using first person tearms. a blending of first and third to use the story developing tactics of each.
where as omni third is thrid in the traditional sense of someone outside the story providing narrative voice to it.

I've just had feedback on a short story written 1st person POV, present tense. The critter said it didn't work in present tense because it was too distant in places, but would work in past tense because of something that happened to change the character partway through. (Hope this makes sense.)

He had a point. I didn't include enough emotion, but I'm going to stick with present tense.

I think distant 1st would work with certain character types eg introvert, but perhaps not in life-threatening situations, which is what I had!
