Another thought, Gary. Is this a wraparound cover design? (It's in landscape format, so I'd guess so.) In that case, the front cover would have a large white space just over half way down on the left, which I think might be too "open".

Ignore this if I've got it wrong.

I most definitely like the first best. The second image is flatter, it doesn't stir my imagination in the same way.

Just out of interest what does the artist prefer?

The first one She says 2 is a cliche

Oops, I meant with the *third* one, the colour difference is too extreme (if it wasn't obvious). Not trying to sway you to my choice (or am I ...?), but isn't the first impression most important with a cover?

If my first feelings are anything like my first, second and third drafts then no but I take your point. The overwhelming consensus is 1 first and 2 and 3 about equal second.

Anyone got a coin?

My only (mild) issue is the E&N seem a little squashed up together, compared to the other letters. Might be my perception.

Just a heads up. I have received nearly 90,000 words of marvelous stories that I think were good enough for Jeff Scott Marryat aka Boneman to edit/critique. He is doing this as we speak.

So far he has agreed with me so I may actually know something!

Cover artwork has been decided on and now I am setting up all the accounts on all publishing platforms for publication day. (don't know date yet as I am working on a marketing plan)

There are some really talented writers here and I kneel respectfully to his liege, IBrian for creating this wonderful place (Still time to get your Fantasy ghost story in, guv)

And for the mods for keeping people like me in line!

Can I ask a dumb question, Gary? If you haven't got all the stories in because the submission deadline isn't here, how can you have chosen which stories are good enough and begin to edit them?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? (Which is quite common!)

I'm wondering if I should scrap my submission so you don't have to consider another 8k and find room for it if it is good enough! If you're already at 90k...
