Is it Lucas' or Lucas's

Both are right

Pick one

stick with it

It'll get changed or not due to house style (unless you self pub, in which case, just stick with your choice all the way through)

Old(ish) thread, I know, but...

It'll get changed or not due to house style (unless you self pub, in which case, just stick with your choice all the way through)

And I've just been told by our publisher that our James's will be changed to James'. ARGH! *weeps* (although I see they use the Oxford comma. Small mercies).

So, yeah. Anybody still wondering. It doesn't matter, cos it'll probably get changed to what you don't want anyway!

Poor Mouse. That would cause me no end of gnashing of teeth.

I've increasingly seen the possessive apostrophe missing after z. I've even seen it missing after h!

The End Days are upon us, I tells ya!

Ah pfft. I hope your publisher makes you Empress's your Empress' :p

If I ever get a contract and the publisher tries to make me change Cass's for Cass', I have the perfect argument prepared.

"That just looks s**t."

I'd better make sure my copy is a real book: it's less costly to throw a book across the room than a Kindle. (What else is one supposed to do when that abomination of a word suddenly soils one's retinas?)

;):)

Might it be this issue that eventually divides the world into two implacably warring factions?

The s's are clearly correct. Clearly.

I'd better make sure my copy is a real book: it's less costly to throw a book across the room than a Kindle. (What else is one supposed to do when that abomination of a word suddenly soils one's retinas?)

I'm just going to shake it angrily, or shake my fist at it while saying 'You...!'
