Discussion Thread -- SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE -- January 2014

Thank you to Starbeast and Mr Orange for the mentions.

Off to decide on my vote, I'm away for a few day from tomorrow, so it has to be tonight.

A short list featuring the comical, the imaginative and the genius. And oft'times all three.

Starbeast, springs, The Judge, Boneman, Victoria Silverwolf, Teresa Edgerton, TheDustyZebra and mosaix (I would love to see this developed in a twisted steam punk/alternate history stylee)

But vote goes to Hex for a simply stunning entry.

And thanks to Perp for saving me from a double post.

thanks so much johnnyjet for the listing :) happy happy happy

(ohmy.. karn did you vote for me? thankyou karn.. must remember that karn likes dragon stories..:D)

I haven't been keeping up with this thread ... or, other threads, for that matter ... so belated thanks to Parson, Fitzchivalry, Perp, and johnnyjet for the votes.

Also thanks to springs for the almost vote, and to Bowler1, Sleepy Dormouse, ratsy, Juliana, and Brev for the mentions.

I'll be coming along with my own shortlist pretty soon.

And I'm back.

My list:

reiver33
TitaniumTi
chrispenycate
J.Hollick
SleepyDormouse
Culhwch
The Judge
Brev
springs
Mith
Hex**
Winner

Hmmm. Now I suppose I ought to back that up by going over to the poll and voting.

Thanks to the usual suspects for the reviews, and many thanks indeed to Springs, alchemist, SleepyDormouse, Starbeast for the various mentions.

Congrats Hex - well deserved win, even if your story didn’t have a superhero in it.

The Judge - Can you please just PM me when you have expanded your story to a Robert E. Howard length novel. It’s the book I most want to read. Thanks in advance.)

Firstly, many thanks to Brev, The Dusty Zebra, Starbeast and Remedy for the mentions/shortlistings.

Here's my take on it all: Can we have a warm image for the next challenge? I'm sure it's had something to do with the cold outside...

So: finalists, medal winners, and *trophy winner*.

Brev
Chrispenycate
Parson (should we be concerned that you're getting better and better at darker stories?;))
Sleepy Doormouse
Alchemist
Teresa
The Dusty Zebra
Harebrain
The Judge (It's quite frightening, how good HB and TJ are, isn't it?)
*Hex* (It's an almost impossible task to write a story that stands out from so many excellent entries, but Hex did it, and packed an incredible amount into 75 words. Brilliant story.)

Thank you for the mentions, Starbeast, telford, and johnnyjet.

And thank you so much for the votes (and kind words), TDZ, Juliana, Brev, Teresa and Boneman.

Our house has been invaded by a virus not entirely unlike the one in HB's story so it's been really nice to have something lovely to concentrate on.

My thanks to Johnnyjet for the short.
Hope I'm not being (too) premature in congratulating Hex.

Yes, it really does take me that long.

My short list included springs, Kylara, Parson, alchemist, Bob Senior, Teresa Edgerton, The Judge and, of course Hex. I finally went for springs, although any of them might have made it.

Thank you springs johnnyjet Teresa Edgerton and Boneman for commenting on my piece; obviously this one appealed to those who took their time before voting…;)

Thanks for the short listing chrispy! Much appreciated (your spreadsheets must be getting loooonnnngggggg now!)
