What are you working on right now?

I actually did a little writing over the past week! I did three flash fiction pieces..two at 1500 words and 1 at 1000. Sometimes I forget how hard it is to write a story with a limit. It's different than doing a 300 word challenge.

Well, slowly slowly catchy monkey. I have two novels in progress, one (sequel to an existing books) at about 10% and one (first in a new trilogy, unrelated to my other books) at about 15%. Meanwhile, I got distracted commencing the rebuild of my MMORPG project with a new engine, but hey, that's a different story, involving years of solo effort that came to naught when the damn thing was essentially completed but couldn't run in windows 7.

Rewriting a chapter. Struggled to try and conjure up a better plan, but I think I might have found a way to increase the tension substantially whilst keeping the basic plot the same. Haven't got much writing done, but got a plan for the bit that was proving vexatious which is a good step forward.

Still redrafting Kingdom Asunder and Sir Edric's Kingdom. Comedy seems to move much faster than serious stuff, not sure why. Might be the single protagonist focus making things easier to keep track of, and meaning I automatically write stuff from Sir Edric's perspective.

Writing another SF short - this one about a derelict satellite tumbling through orbit with potentially disastrous consequences. The guy who's appointed as the head of the mission to capture and de-orbit the problem spacecraft is a brilliant scientist, but a one-man disaster zone.

After I've done this I may rewrite the opening couple of chapters to the sequel to Jewels.

Still plugging away at the main WIP. Now about 27k into this rewrite, but not changing quite so much this time round. I have totally changed the MC (same person but older and with different background and skills) which impacts the whole story, so changes are subtle on the whole. Hopefully. I'm not generally good at subtle....

Finally found my starting point! I've been writing odd scenes (mostly throwaways to get to know my characters) as a part of my planning but haven't really been able to carry them on and now I've found it! Quite exciting now, it's actually starting to take proper form in words.

Broke 11k words in my newest novel (and start of new series) that I've been working on. Coming along real solid. May even share some of it here to get a little feedback. Liking it a lot more than my previous work.

Stepping up my efforts on my time travel novel, Final Frontier. Trying to finish it my next year.

In the meantime, I've begun outlining two future projects: Draconia 4 and Galactic Odyssey.

Sequel to Under the Stone of Destiny. I had evilly written about two chapters worth before having a plot or an outline, which usually a bad idea for me. But I just had inspiration as to plot, and did a little of the outline.

Just the epilogue of Liberator to edit/rewrite then its off to the final beta's. Seems strange now to be this close to completion. The manuscript lost 14k words throughout this processe, leaving it at a solid 96k.

Trying to sort out the ancillary stuff for Treasure (dedication, acknowledgements, etc). Bit of a bugger trying to get the dedication right (I'd planned something like "Dedicated to my hound, even though he's a dingbat", but given the situation I'm not having that).

Rewriting a Kingdom Asunder chapter too. Done most of it, roughly, then I'll try and sharpen it up. Reasonably pleased with how it seems to be going.

Resurrecting this thread because I quite like reading about what other people are working on.

Currently outlining/ planning a SF thriller that sits somewhere between space opera and hard sci-fi, working title is currently 'Mnemonaut'. Current outline has 98 scenes, which will probably come down a little before I start writing but feels like the right ballpark for a word count in the 90-120k range that I'm aiming for.

Well I re-wrote "Under The Stone Of Destiny" today so that I could re-write "Carrying the Shining Sword" with one less character, which I also did today. Very fast editing, so will surely need re-read and edited again :)

Just getting rolling with the second book in my series. The first one was published a month ago and I would prefer to write than to promote.

I thought there was a thread like this, but I've searched back and the only one I could find was 'What do we all write?' which isn't really what I mean.

So, this'll be interesting. We all like talking about ourselves...

What are you working on, writing wise, right now. It can be editing, research, short stories, novel, comp entries. Anything you're working on, I want to hear about. As long as it's related to writing.

Your turn.

Three stories: One concerning a bot repairman who meets a videographer on a hyperspace flight, begins a romance.
Another about a detective and his fiance who are investigating a case involving shamanism.
Yet another involving robots. In this story, the bots are fighting alien invaders.

NAMASTE
