What are you working on right now?

My WIP is a fantasy novel... currently about 100k words. It was clear up to 130k, but I deleted a huge swath of the beginning that was basically throat-clearing. And currently I'm halfway through a preliminary edit to straighten out the plot problems so I can finish the story and FINALLY have a rough draft!

I'm facing the HUGE task of learning how to self-market my newly published book, Thumar. It feels
like I'm trying to climb Mt Everest without guides or equipment at this stage.

I feel you... I'm dreading having to self publish if I can't find a traditional publisher.

Tim, I'm rather bad at self-promotion, but can reassure you at least a little that a lot of it seems down to luck. Bane of Souls, my first book for which I did practically no marketing etc, actually has the most downloads by a long way. I'd suggest, for what it's worth, trying to get reviews, occasionally running cut-price promos (I always like 13 December for Saint Lucy's Day) and the like.

Hmm. Could also have a period where self-published Chrons authors all cut their prices and did a collaborative promo.

WIP is now down to 96k from 110k following the meetup with Peat, Robert and Dan on Wednesday evening (where I was trounced once again by a certain spy for my glacial speed :p ) which I know is not actually writing, but also brings me closer to finishing, right?

So far 330 words today.

Also, I have just begun my research on the Amish in preparation for commencing the Victorian period <sigh>, which I'd like to have started by Halloween.

10K into my Secret Santa assignment.

Working on Left, my sequel to The Event, and just about at the 37K mark.

I was trying for 30K in august, and have hit about 18k so far, so probably wont be making it, but still a solid month of words.

Nearing the end of the rough edit for the Ch 4-6 block in GSP. After that, the tidy up edit (insert all needed bits of logic and story break) and after that, the fine edit...

I also started work on GSP2 because I need to be working on something new. That and a bit of plot brainstorming for some other ideas.

Mysteria McCool is an occult detective who'd far rather just tend bar but keeps getting led into these hijinks against her better judgment. Her name is the unfortunate result of being raised by Goths and an Irish-American heritage which her dad swears is in the direct descent from Finn McCool himself. She routinely threatens people with death for making jokes about her name and pale skin.

It is possible her best friend is the main reason for her getting involved, and her best friend claims to be a witch (veracity unknown). She may also have a pet Cat Sith that can sniff out magic.

I'm not gonna lie, if I do ever write these, they'll be UF send ups with heavy romance subplots, the latter being a possible way to write a story my wife would actually like to read.

GET TO WRITING!!

You've peaked my interest!

:D

Alas, there's a lot of other ideas ahead of it in the queue.

I feel like I come up with an interesting idea every other day, an actually usable plot every other month, and enough writing energy and skill to produce a book every other year. Which isn't all that conducive to happiness.

Getting back to writing book four of the Thumar series, in between madly trying to get the world to recognize "Thumar."
Neither is going as nicely as my mind planned, but I am not standing still, and making progress daily!
