What are you working on right now?

BTW, it's worth remembering when "correcting" other people's spelling that their spelling might already be perfectly correct for the English usage in their own country.
On a more general point, though I appreciate you were trying to help, it's probably best not to correct even undoubtedly wrong spellings (unless the member has asked for it or you've checked they're happy for you to do so), as they may be dyslexic.
Your point is taken. Thank you for not unloading on me.:)

Fiddling with bits of Crown of Blood. May be sending it to beta readers relatively soon.

Well, after about 2 years of writers block I am finally working on my first novel again. I am around 75 pages in to what will more than likely be around 400 pages when its done. For the longest time I couldn't write on it because of some confidence problems that came about because of this site actually. I took some critiques the wrong way and if effectively shut my creative side down completely. I would sit here at the computer for what seemed like ages and nothing would happen.

Happy to report that some inspirational stuff happened not too long ago and it made me realize that I am not going to let other people's opinions stop me from finishing this thing. I will be a published author, even if it drives me insane in the process.

Answering the thread's title question: I'm writing an end-of-world sci-fi text. I've never written fiction before (I have written some books on software development), so I'm looking forward to the day when the site will allow me to post sections for review.

I hear you

Go get...All power to you. (y)

I've had the same problem here. I won't be putting anything up for critique again. Basically constructive is great, nit picking is abusive to creativity and you can never tell which you're likely to receive. there are some real stick in the muds on this site. Others are awesome.
I don't mind bad press from critical reviews or refusals on submissions because thats just the way it is but I really want my community to be helpful and where people do think they are equipped with writing prowess I want them to be helpfully guiding with humility ( and able to be wrong sometimes).

At this precise moment (Chrons aside) I'm fiddling with episode 9 of my not very heroic comic, Tales of Knights and Nitwits (episode 7 out Thursday, for those interested). I also want to give Crown of Blood another going over before letting any beta readers have a look.

Started writing an introductory blog post. I don't have a blog, but I feel like I should start preparing for one.

I've got two of my three short story concepts vaguely written out. I'll try to outline those two this week.

I'm editing the later chapters in A Child of Great Promise. It's slow and painful.

And it's not even over. Once I get the final chapters edited, it's back through the entire manuscript again for a third draft. Second draft is the worst for me because parts of the story still slither about like eels. The third draft is mainly fixing parts that I not only know aren't quite right, I know how to fix them.

After that it's a read-through for proofreading and consistency errors, then off to the editor (the story, not me). This will be the first time hiring an editor. I hope it works out!

After a solid December I stopped writing my WIP until today. Whoops! Kind of an anti-News Years resolution there. (I did write a children's book in that time so I was at least doing something. I don't know if it's any good.)

I was really hoping this meant you were playing in a folk-metal band. :)

Me, I'm on year two of trying to get a wildflower patch to grow. Made the mistake of spreading seeds straight into the lawn and I'm stuck plucking grass to give the wildflowers a chance. It's working, though. Cowslips, ribwort plantain and self-heal are established! Yay!

I'm also writing...

I added a couple of hundred words today - main thing is, two days in a row! I'm aiming for the "little, often" approach, as the alternative doesn't seem to work for me. Some day I've got to try the "lots, often". That would be fun.

Randall, I'm afraid I have all the musical aptitude of a comatose gnome.

Have put the WIP aside for a few days to work on copy edits of my book due out in May/June which is called Deep Blue so at the moment I'm re-reading the first in the trilogy to try and make sure I have some semblance of continuity between the two (publishing moves so slowly that it's so long since I wrote the first one that I can't actually remember most of it). If anyone is wondering, copy edits are the stage at which the manuscript is checked for continuity errors and spelling mistakes so I have already worked through two rounds of story edits (which focus on content/story).

I am proofreading Sir Edric and the Plague. I can confirm it has more gnome-related humour than The Adventures of Sir Edric, but less than Sir Edric's Kingdom.
