Congratulations, Starbeast!

TDZ - sorry about you friend. Sending e-hugs and thinking of you all.

Congratulations, StarBeast! :)

Thanks for the short lists etc to: Bowler, Glen, farntfar, Hex, Martin321, Hopewrites, Starbeast, Teresa, Boneman, Crystal Haven, Telford, TSP, Alex, Tisiphone and Ursa.

And thanks for the Vote, TDZ.

Well done Starbeast! I'm excited with anticipation of your theme which I expect will be oddball to say the least :p;)

Thank you for such thoughtful and positive reviews, Starbeast, Victoria and Perp. You're - all three of you - complete enablers :D.

Thanks also for the shortlist, Victoria and johnnyjet

I had to stealth-vote last night in the interval in a theatre. I had my shortlist but hadn't decided which of the favourite-favourites I would go with. The past six weeks have been stupidly busy and it has eaten into pretty much my entire writing/chrons time (hence, no commentaries on my faves, this time, apologies.) and I felt my own entry unfinished, or less punchy than I wanted.

Alors...my favourites were;

khayos*
Victoria Silverwolf
Alcehmist
Teresa Edgerton
Aun Doorback
Tactical Loco*
Azzagorn
johhnyjet *
Perpetual Man*
BigJ*
Ursa Major

In the end it was Tactical Loco that got my vote for purely personal reasons (as if there are any others when voting ;)). I have found kids' attention spans seem to have lessened. and my pedagogy has had to adapt in a way I don't like because of screen time. Everything has to be instant; bells and whistles, with little investment in just sitting down and being able to read, and comprehend. Admittedly in dance (which attracts kinaesthetic learners, anyway) this is not as big an issue as it would be in an English lesson, but it bugs me that when developing a dance, they are unable to mine a stimulus without using YouTube or wiki.

TDZ, I'm so sorry to hear of your sad news. That is so dreadful. I hope you and the family can find some peace of mind soon.

Starbeast: Congratulations on being picked the beast among the stars of writing.

Tisiphone: Lovely grandbaby. (Parson didn't even know you could make albums like that on Chrons. Shakes his head as he's such a neophyte.)

DustyZ: What can I say? My heart and prayers reach out to you in this hour of loss and anger. Life never seems fair, and when people die young it seems downright evil. May you know the peace that passes understanding as you live today and every other day given to you.

What a last minute shocker!!!??!!!
Thank you so much Phyrebrat! My mouth literally dropped open. LOL!
I also teach and that definitely had a role in my thinking.
Wow!!!!!!!!

Congrats Starbeast!

Amazing first contest for me, I'm thrilled I got one vote and was mentioned/shortlisted 5-6 times! Can't wait for the next one! :D

Thank you for the mention Abernovo, appreciated.

Well done Starbeast. Well deserved too after all the great reviews.

Sorry for not voting. My bad, no totally terrible time management skills have let me down. I will present myself to Bowler1's Ray Gun firing squad now.

OMG - A willing victim. As we're speaking of nappies, I'll let you get a snug one on first. Right... brace yourself... Zzzaaaappppp....

Mmmm that image is divine.

So: Starbeast, congratulations on a great win. It was a fabulous story.

Thank you very VERY much, alchemist, Brev and telford for voting for my story, and thanks to: springs, mosaix, Bowler1, sleepydormouse, SirSamuelVimes, TacticalLoco, Parson, TitaniumTi, Remedy, hopewrites, chrispy, starbeast, Teresa, crystal haven, Perp, Juliana, TSP, TDZ, and Alex the G&T for the lovely mentions.

Starbeast you wrote an excellent story, well done, really. I'm looking forward to giving this a go again.

Thank you all very much. I'm still very overwhelmed right now.

Firstly, congratulations goes to Tisiphone for the addition of a new baby in the family!

And second, it's nice to see new members join us.

I'm looking forward to see old and new members in the April 75 Challenge. And as always, I can't wait to begin another month.

See you all around in the SFFC - The Benevolent Beast From the Stars

Bowler you can do me too! Got stuck in Lincoln without a PC and lost track of time! Many Congrats Starbeast, a worthy winner and my phantom vote goes to you as well. Thanks to all mentions guys - Evacuating bowel now

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm a bit embarrassed by it all, as I'm afraid I couldn't possibly lay claim to the label of "friend" -- I haven't talked to him in 30 years. Which is why some of us were talking about it, trying to figure out why it seemed to hit so inexplicably hard, and the best I could come up with was that it was a piece of childhood dying. He was always in our minds as a "unit" with his brother, whom I knew much better -- they were two peas in a pod. The idea that one of those could be lost is just a chunk breaking out of our childhood memories.

Congratulations Starbeast!

And thanks to those who mentioned my story, and bigger thanks to HareBrain for the vote!
