Yes, he’s always been very good in replying to fan emails; I’ve had a few exchanges with him over the last few years. He didn’t reply to my last message about one of his recent short stories though, which seemed unusual. Fingers crossed he’s just travelling then.

No worries - Alan is fine - his website has become unmanageable (old code) and he's using only Facebook now.
